Latest version of 68030?

Was looking for the latest version of the full 68030 (with MMU) 50MHz for my Blizzard IV 030 accelerator so that the 030 runs cooler inside the desktop case. My accelerator currently has the MC68030RC50B and it gets quite hot on the surface and heats up the desk.

Latest I have noticed is the MC68030RC50C with mask 1F91C (which was a die shrink). Can someone confirm this is the latest and should run cooler? Would all versions of MC68030RC50C have this mask?

Does anyone know where I can get this CPU from? I should be looking for the ceramic PGA package right?

IF the 030 is a MC unit, it have the latest mask. The 030 units are warm things.
Better use a small, low profile heatsink and a tiny fan for improved airflow and you can relax.

If even with the heatsink and fan the CPU goes hot, check the capacitors in the +5V rail and the voltage levels on the PSU. As a rule of thumbs, less voltage means higher currents, generating more heat.

Slightly off topic but do the latest 060's stay cooler than the latest 030's?

Almost certainly, they are 3.3v instead of 5v. Rev6 (Mask E41J) even at 50MHz does not need a heatsink let alone a fan and is almost cold to touch.

As is the MC68040! Shame it don't surface on Ebay or other user grab-able places.

Not according to the Motorola Product Change Notifications in the doco section under the 68030 on the Freescale website. The die was shrunk to the smaller 0.8 from the 1.0 micron process.

So does anyone know where to get these?

I beg to differ there. Only the MC68040xxxV are 3.3v. The the "V" notation at the end of the code indicates a CORE voltage of 3.3v AFAIK the I/O voltages remain 5v but it is unclear from the freescale docs.

Yup the L88M mask of the MC68040RC40A is at 40MHz almost cold and requires no heatsink or fan. I've been looking for one for ages.
