Thanks for this sweet little prod. Can't go wrong with some Dreamfish goodies .
[MOD collector mode] 1. However, please tell me, why The Player 6.1a, here ?!? 2. MOD.nasty should apparently be named differently. Do you have an original (read protracker) where this music isn't named as such ? [/MOD collector mode] Sylvain |

Hello Asle
Answers to your questions as follows: 1. ThePlayer6.1a was used as the replayer for two reasons. First, because it offered good compression on the size of the modules in memory and second because at least one of h0ffman's (Dreamfish's... ) modules played back with the incorrect tempo using the first replayer code (ProRunner 2.0) that was tried. 2. mod.nasty is exactly the same module that it has always been. The name change to Renegade Squares for this prod was purely cosmetic (none of the actual module data or instrument names were changed) and was done at h0ffman's request as per his "h0ffman says:" comments in the selector menu screen. Any other questions, just ask |

I do understand your reasons for asking, however, I think it should be the choice of the coder which replayer he wants to use. Your question implies that you don't like the choice the coder made here but TP6.1 has been the "de-facto standard replayer" for many years now for several reasons. If you need the original modules, asking the composer shouldn't be too hard. Just my 2 cents.

Indeed, that's the coder's choice, no question about that. And no, in this case, we already have all those as original (as pointed out by Hoffman himself), so no need to contact the author this time. It was more a general remark.
I'm not coder and, thus, can't really appreciate this very topic correctly. Still ... granted P61A has been the most used replay for many years, quite a lot prods do use other replay and store musics as is (DBM/MOD/AHX). I raised the question mainly because we are here in a musicdisk where size/replay speed are generally not as important as in a 64k for example. However, as explained by PMC, the size mattered, here, so ... Oh and thx PMC for the MOD.nasty explanation Sylvain [fanatic mode] MOD.nasty contains 2 unused patterns (8 and 9) which are of course removed by P61A. I guess I'm among the extremely very few who dig that far ... heh [/fanatic mode] |

Yeah, I hate it when Amiga coders release executables with MS-DOS style file names too (If this is not the reason for your oh so innocent screenshot of trying to start it in Win 7 you should be beaten with a stick, of course!! To a hairy pulp...)
Thanks for the greet and good job on finishing this. Haven't really checked out any of your modules H0ffman, thanks for this. Don't really like the generic retro style but I really enjoyed Echobelly actually Lazzer was also very nice. |

I hate it too. In Italy, this bad fashion started with what I call the 3rd generation of italian sceners (1995-2000). Before, the usual thing was that executable file names did not have extensions. After 94 people were more or less counsciously inspired by the PC world, and suddely everyone started putting the .exe extension to executables.
