You don't need Miami. Just enable bsdsocket emulation on the Misc page.
This *has* been discussed a lot in the past. |

The net is already there. Just start your web browser (aweb or whatever) and start browsing. Winuae already does what miami does for you.

Go to SEARCH icon above and type what you are looking for: miami, miami net,internet, net 3.9 etc, then check the threads. And read them. And use EDIT, dont post two or three or more posts in a row ;-) And why you wanna use browser in WinUAE? ?:-I |

You don't need to get it startet, it is already started. You don't need any additional software. WinUAE shares Windows' TCP/IP stack. You can just run your favourite client software (IBrowse, AWeb, YAM, SimpleMail, AmFTP etc.)

Perhaps I should stop the epicism of this thread now and break a secret: you *can* use Miami in WinUAE if you really want to. It is complicated and error-prone, but it is possible.
To do this, you disable bsdsocket.library on the Misc page and enable uaenet.device instead. Before you can do this, you have to install winpcap on Windows. And you better add a second network card which is dedicated only to WinUAE because Windows easily gets confused if somebody else accesses its network devices. After this is done, you can install Miami and tell it to use uaenet.device as SANA-II driver. |

@thomas
I think for simplicity, Leytond would do far better finding out how to get the internet running through WinUAE with a Web browser that others have recommended rather than create a situation that *will* create *more* problems, for himself, and in turn will cause this thread to create an integer out of range error because of it's massive post size |

Leytond: My suggestion: Use your WINDOWS netbrowser (firefox, internet explorer, Opera, Chrome, whichever you prefer) then goto google.com and search "AWeb for Amiga" or "IBrowse for Amiga" then download one of these.
then start WinUAE, in HD tab you can either mount the directory you saved Aweb or IBrowse in as a HD, or simply click "Add Windows drives on startup" (I recommend the first one, for simplicity sake, for example, if you saved Aweb.lha in C:\Amiga, then add the drictory as a HD for use on the Amiga. (I assume you can figure out howto mount a dir as an Amiga HD) Then start emulation, when Workbench is loaded, unpack AWeb.lha with "lha x aweb.lha RAM:" this will extract the files into a new drawer in RAM: Now open RAM: from WB, then open the AWeb drawer, then install AWeb. Once this is done, you should be able to start AWeb and surf to your hearts content using your emulated Amiga. |
