EAB Avatar size limits - time to increase?

EAB has had an avatar size limit of 64x64 for as long as I can remember.

Since then, screen resolutions and monitors have become much larger, broadband connections much faster and RCK has updated his server a few times.

So isn't it about time to increase the avatar max size to 100x100? Or 80x80?

I just think 64x64 looks way too small these days.

Or at least increase the file size to let us to use higher quality JPEGs or animated GIFs?

Hehe, another discussion regarding avatar sizes and one that I'm all for

I certainly would like to see the 100x100 size being implemented, I cross my fingers RCK will consider the idea, as all my avatars are all 640x640 and scaled down for EAB, so I wouldn't have a problem uploading any

Not a chance, RCK has no intentions of adding that feature for reasons I'm sure you're aware of.

Animated avatars would get on my nerves, they like totally annoy my peripherals and bite away miniscule amounts at my CPU usage, but if I'm outvoted....

I must have missed those. Was there a specific thread?

Perhaps I should have created a poll.

Nah! It was in the request for animated avatars that ended up being for larger avatars. This thread serves the true purpose of what's being asked and I'm sure RCK will take notice.

@CF
Yep! That thought had crossed my mind too

I think My request was for an avatar size of 128x128, I wonder if a GM could add a poll to this thread with these options:-

64x64
80x80
100x100
128x128

Obviously, it's up to Bloodwych as it is his thread

As long as the Avatar is hosted outside abime.net then I guess it shouldn't matter should it?

The link wouldn't work, although I'm sure it's very nice, but animated avatars don't sit well with me on a forum. I guess like the smilies, I'd get used to it if they were allowed.

But I'm sure just as many people like them and designing their own, so I guess it's up to RCK.

Animated avatars can sometimes be ok but generally I find them to be tacky and annoying, if this was to be implemented, there should be a rule that they are amiga related only, im all for larger sized avatars though ;-)

I guess that's that, although I think RCK exaggerates that with a slightly larger avatar you need to scroll twice more!

I'm looking at them now and they look tiny on modern displays. Even on 1024x768, they are tiny. But as TCD said, he seems quite clear on the issue!
