1260 Terrible Fire IDE
All, I have dug out a CDROM and IDE ZIP drive and had a great time scouring all my old ZIP disks and CD's.
I then decided it may be a good time to put the IDE (ehide.device) on the 1260 to use. Can I get the bugger to work, no. I did get it working originally when it had an IDE to SD hard drive. I just ran a script something like "run <>NIL: c:mounter ehide.device 0" (after downloading MOUNTER), and the drive(s) appeared on Workbench. Now nothing on that IDE port works, nothing seems to mount the ehide.device any more. I even have a 44pin to 40 adapter that takes power from the 1260 IDE port - nothing. It lights up (SD and ZIP and CDROM) and whirrs (CD ROM And ZIP) but nothing in Workbench. I have even put "c:loadmodule devs/ehide.device" into my startup-sequence right at the beginning, still nothing. The ZIP mountlists that I used with scsi.device i have pointed to ehide.device - nothing. Any advice gladly accepted. |

You will find it very worthwhile having a read here first:
https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4630 A1200 3.2.2 ROM's with ehide.device included on them is an upcoming option too. I dare say anyone with the know how & kit could burn their own right now. Last edited by Kin Hell; 01 April 2023 at 09:50. Reason: Simplification of facts |

OK got the SD adapter working !! YAY No way will it see the ZIP on the same ehide bus (set as slave) - just sees the SD card. It is on a very long cable though, (short 44 pin to 44/40 adapter, and then a long 40 pin to ZIP) so need a shorter 40 pin one. Did notice that when CPU set to 67mhz in WBStartup it crashed. I think that requires a firmware fix, so had to bin the 67 mhz.

Extremely short cables and 3.3V devices are supported on the TF1260 IDE port. You should connect your ZIP drive to the motherboard IDE.

3.3V? Are not IDE devices and controllers generally supposed to be 5V TTL compatible?

@ Jope
I was of the opinion the A1200 IDE interface used 5V. @ OP A buffered CF Adapter on your TF1200 should allow longer cables to work without issue & allow the use of two Devices. https://amigastore.eu/en/891-a120060...-buffered.html |

Which IDE interface are the things getting plugged into?
A1200 motherboard: normal 5V IDE TF1260: 3.3v "certain CF cards and DOMs only" IDE |

Sounding so much like an Elbox Radeon event ffs. Does that mean, "Industrial Grade" @ 3.3V? Last edited by Kin Hell; 02 April 2023 at 19:14. |

It doesn't have to be industrial grade.
Not sure about an Elbox Radeon event here, as the limitations were documented. Unfortunately not all resellers have all the limitations and quirks written down in their web shop item descriptions. Last edited by Jope; 03 April 2023 at 07:30. |

3.3V logic is generally signal-compatible with 5V TTL logic, and CF cards are supposed to work at 3.3V and 5V. In practical terms though, this means there's a lot less overhead to compensate for things like electrical noise and cable/connector resistance, hence the need to keep cabling short.

I do have a buffered adapter on the mother board IDE, may try that on the TR1260 IDE port with a ZIP drive. The TF is funny with voltages, mine has a switch 3.3 and 3.6. Also the overclocking doesnt work with anything plugged into TF1260 IDE port. Stuck with 50mhz lol
