Possibly Jeff Minter program that made fireworks on screen in time to music?
Hi, I remember a program for the Atari ST and/or Amiga where you could listen to music and fire off fireworks on screen by hitting the computer keyboard. Possibly Llamatron/Jeff Minter or similar developer. Any ideas?

Could be. There was an earlier light synth that he also did, called Colourspace (or possibly Colorspace)
