TEAC Floppy Drives

Hello,

Got my hands on a Teac floppy drive like this one;
http://www.nightfallcrew.com/wp-cont...829_185321.jpg

Works great and have no problem with it. More curious about history stuff...

So far all A500s I had either had a Chinon drives (in the A500s) or Panasonic (in the A500+). I never saw one with a Teac drive.

What I found strange is the location of the power and data connectors. On the Chinon and Panasonic, the power connector is to the right and the data connector is to the left. However for this Teac it is the reverse, the data connector to the right and the power connector to the left. Also the power connector face upwards which makes me wonder if it would close with the shield on.

So I was wondering; Did TAEC drives ship out with A500s? (or 500+)? Or they shipped with some other amiga model?

As explained works great, it is even less noisy then the other drives I have. However did find the differences interesting.

May have been one modified to work on Amiga. Many PC drives can have this done. So you know if it original or had it been opened before?

It does not have any visible hacks. Also came with an A500 button which fits perfect in the case.

My A600 came with a Teac FD-235F floppy drive. As far as I know it should be original. It looks like your drive, except for the power connector that is in the standard, horizontal rear-facing position.
