Addictaball

http://hol.abime.net/3190

Was this game ever actually released for the Amiga??

After testing the adf just now I've noticed several things..
  • Magazine info, it's got 1 preview..that's it.no reviews..seems a bit strange for a game from 1988.
  • no scans of the box, disk etc.
  • game seems to launch straight into 2 player mode.
  • game doesn't play quite right (compared to st ver).
  • has virtually no sound or music (all I've heard is 1 speech sample).
  • the game credits are the beginning say if you don't like the game then tough sheep shit..seems a bit strange for a retail game

Now admittedly some of it could be because of the adf, but there's only one version of Addictaball floating about and that's the Champs version.

And falling fireballs are glitchy: [ Show youtube player ] I thought game require 512KB of Chip RAM only to play sounds.

no sound apart from that one speech sample regardless of config. I think the glitchy fireballs may be a config problem though as they're a little glitchy for me but nowhere near as bad as in that video.

Highly doubtful as Alligata never managed to release any of the other Ami conversions of 8-bit games (Who Dares Wins II, Pub Games, Zed, Trap) they were supposedly working on for Prism Leisure back in '88.

Just checked it out and it seems bugged as well, so could very well be unreleased. Good spot. The idea of those credits appearing in a commercially released game makes me think of Amiga Format's 'type some shit in here please' gaffe.
