@Psygore
If Heroes of the Lance is easy and you have time, that would be great too. If only the patches could be done in C, then I would have a go. I think I will have to play Pools of Darkness once it makes it into the pack as it looks great. |

Poos of Darkness was a great game, but i prefer the low level settings of the prior games and also, the prior chapters had to me a more mythical, lost age feeling than this one.
Gateway to the savage frontier and the first two chapters of the Krynn saga were also great. |

yes, actually it would be great if pool of radiance was redesigned and redone with pools of darkness engine, with paladin and ranger classes, more non-linear play and so ...
any volunteers ? (actually pool of radiance was ok about linearity, secret of the silver blades was the most boring AFAIK) |

Well, maybe you can recreate Pool of Radiance as a module for Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures, but it is available only for MS-DOS. Maybe someone can make first a port to Amiga of Dungeon Craft, an open source clone do FRUA, but it works only on directX so you must convert it to SDL before
EDIT: I loved Secret fo Silver Blades ... it was the first time I had some Hi-level characters in a CPRG Last edited by MazinKaesar; 23 January 2008 at 12:44. |

well, high level characters were nice, but I got the "mice in the labyrinth searching for cheese" feeling cause all you got was dungeon after dungeon with no chance on the players part to choose the next challenge ...

i played around with Frua and Dungeon Craft, years ago, they aren't worth the efforts imho, you see too much of what's behind the game to actually enjoy it...

Yes, It's much like to do the Dungeon Master in the real AD&D. But some modules I remember were well-done and funny.

so basically it remains :
Gold Box serie: Curse of Azure Bonds Secret of the Silver Blades Gateway to the Savage Frontier Treasures of the Savage Frontier Related or similar from SSI: Demons Winter Heroes of the Lance Dragons of Flame All of these games, if someone wants to undertake the slave writing, have SPS releases, according to HOL. Also, as the characters are to be imported from a game to the next, in the Gold Box serie (in Hillsfar too) are they possible to be extracted or are they buried in a image disk in whdload? For instance, i remember that some game asks for the actual disk number # to be inserted in drive for the extraction process and conversion to happen, so it 's not just a matter of moving files between directories... am i wrong? i apologize in advance if all of this is addressed already in the current whdload installs, i never played those games from there. |
