Can I have a floppy drive and a gotek both on internal a1200 floppy header?

Hey friends,

I’d like to run both my internal floppy drive as well as a gotek on the internal floppy header of my A1200.

Right now I have my gotek using the external floppy connector, routed back into my checkmate case. It is pretty ugly and my obsessive compulsive disorder requires me to find a more attractive solution

For my purposes, I can use either one as DF0 and not need to switch.

Is this possible? I’ve read that it should be possible with a custom floppy cable but it’s a bit unclear to me at this point.

I looked into this ages ago, from memory you fit a switch to select between ds0 and ds1 on the floppy cable which allows them to both be connected and either selected as df0.

Yep it is possible Mang!

But as discussed You can make a cable with a switch that will switch between a Floppy and Gotek as DF0:

I’ve made a few and use them in a couple of my builds

I had a small PCB printed that goes from one to two headers with a switch to control which one is active. I now have a gotek and my floppy drive inside my A500 with the switch at the back of the machine.

I have to find the details of the board, I did not make it, but it was available on PCBway. I have a few left that I am selling. PM me.

Yep SHG retro (Stu Hud) made that board, then got flak from certain so called Amiga protection league of people which discouraged him to continue
