Wanted: 8372A fat agnus chip NTSC

Trying to upgrade a NTSC Amiga 500 so it will run PAL region public domain games. Heard that the 8372A has to be from a NTSC machine such as a 2000.

Agnus versions are a very complicated topic but CGS released a universal 1MB 8372A for PAL and NTSC, working on both PAL/NTSC: Part number 318069-02. When using 8372A, you can select PAL/NTSC mode on boot-up.

You can check this table Big Book of Amiga Hardware: Agnus

If your A500 rev 6a already have 318069-02 and you want to fully change from NTSC to PAL, you'll need to change the crystal, from 28.6363MHz (NTSC) to 28.37516MHz (PAL) and change JP4:

open JP4 = PAL
closed JP4 = NTSC

To change A500 rev5 from NTSC to PAL you have to change the crystal from 28.6363MHz (NTSC) to 28.37516MHz (PAL) and change the 8370 to an 8371 Agnus.
