Samsung Flat Panel TV

So my old Samsung TV seems to have given up the ghost.

When I was watching something on the Science channel, the video dispaly just powered off and would not power back on.

I didn't hear any pop nor smell any magic smoke.

I then disconnected the power cable over night and then tried powering it on again, nothing.

Normally there is a single steady RED light that acts as a standby while the device is powered off then it flashes when powering it on and goes steady again, this isn't coming on.

Do these devices have fuses in them ?

Does anybody know what this could be other then the PS Unit inside the TV ?

All mains powered devices should have at least one fuse. Fuses rarely blow for no reason though.

First thing I'd do is test the power supply, if you have the means to do so.

Thanks for the feedback, guess I need to grab my old voltmeter, hopefully it still works.

FYI - since I didn't have time nor a chance to look at my old TV I just purchased a new 4K unit, it's slightly larger, 43" vs. 40" but is much ligher and thinner.

It works like a champ and does seem to be a clearer picture but I will not know for sure until my eyes get a chance to heal fully and I get my new prescriptions.

With 4K greatness expect your eye to heal faster.

I don't remember, do you have NVidia Shield?

No I don't, I have an older PS3 I use as a Media Player and it works just fine.

In fact the new TV recognized both my PS3 and Comcast cable connection and labeled each connection accordingly, also the network connection.

Reason I asked for nvidia shield, it supports 4k playback.

As for your TV being smart, I like that, but I can just imagine some souls here scared to the bone of your TV recognizing stuff that is connected to.

ps. I got NVidia Shield once I saw it emulate Amiga Like I did not have enough systems to emulate it.

Indeed, but I think I will be looking at replacing the tired PS3 with perhaps a PS5 when it's released.

Maybe consider doing an HTPC setup.

Home Theater PC?

Just watched nice video about someone building one. I don't know, don't like to have computer in living room, but this might change my mind.

Sure however you can make some pretty quiet and capable machines now a days

Besides this would be in my Bedroom.

Apologizes in advance if I am about to appear out of key somehow, considering the rather relaxed conversation the two of you are having : I am not sure I would part with the PS3 in a snap if I had one. Also, I would consider bringing home the upcoming xbox -codename scarlett- instead of the PS5. Incidentally, taking the HTPC route might imply a hefty dose of trial and error to get the best out your GPU with madVR.
