Scans bigger than A3
I still have plenty of stuff that won't fit into A3 scanner. Since scanners A2 and bigger are very rare and expensive I was thinking about make photos since scanning big posters in parts on scanner A3 is irritating - hard to scan all parts perfectly aligned and linked. I've seen couple of posters on HOL that are clearly photos (Chuck Rock poster is example)
Not the best option but still better than nothing. As You can see plenty for example Core Design games had manual as backside of poster usually bigger than standard A3. |

Yes, I think that photos are fine if other options are not feasible.

I'll try to photo with minimum noise/best light conditions and post examples soon.

I never have need for bigger than my A3 scanner these days, but back when I did I found it easier and got better results by using a handheld scanner. These can be had new quite cheaply now, there's loads listed on eBay. It's best to avoid the lower resolution ones if you do go that route.
Use Photoshop or Gimp or anything similar to stitch the image together to A2 size. |

Handheld are still designed mostly for A4 sheets.
I have access to Kyocera A3 and I did some bigger than A3 scans but this required to perfectly align each part and scan at really high DPI otherwise all parts might not match. Most annoying is that A3 scanner does not scan entire A3 field just like A4 printer cannot print entire A4 paper sheet. |

Yep, that's the one. Scan in A4 lumps then stitch together to whatever size is needed. I needed to scan some large posters and documents back in the day and that was the only way to do it.
