Nov 1990 AC coverdisk

Hi,

I'm looking for the Nov 1990 Amiga Computing's coverdisk in ADF. It's the one containing the SWIV demo, Cribbage, Cursor V1.1 and VirusX 4.01.

Please excuse me if this has been asked for before. I've searched the forums but heven't found any reference. This disk seems to be also missing in TOSEC and other collections.

Bye,

Also been looking for this for a few year now with no results. The Cribbage game on it is fantastic but I haven't been able to find that anywhere.
If someone has this disk please share it!

I have it in a box of disks I acquired a while back. Lots of these disks are bad though so I’ll take a look.

Well good news and bad news. The good news is I can load the disk fine but I suspect it has some sort of protection on it as it won’t let me make an ADF as it shows errors.

Doubtful it's protection with being a coverdisk, I can't recall it having any years ago.
More likely disk errors, could need someone with a Kryoflux to get a good read. Dammit! This disk continues to be elusive!

Are you able to copy some files off disk or is it NDOS?

Disk uploaded to The Zone. I imaged my original disk back in (from the file dates) 1999 and 2001.

Archive contains MFMWarp and PackDev image files. WinUAE directly supports .pkd files so select it just like you would an ADF.

This disk has several non-trackdisk-format tracks, which are used for the SWIV demo. They are:
track 0 upper side, tracks 1 to 8 inclusive, track 9 lower side, track 67 upper side, tracks 68-79 inclusive

All the non-trackdisk tracks are long, about $33A2 bytes. The non-standard tracks have been replaced with zeros in the .pkd file.

It would probably be possible to convert the .MFM file to some kind of raw dump (extended ADF?) which WinUAE supports, if you really want to play the SWIV demo.

I can read the disk fine in directory opus and it had let me copy the cribbage demo to HD which seems to run ok.

Thanks mark_k.
It works like a charm (except for the swiv demo, but it's not that important for me). I'd been looking for this many weeks. You're great!

It should be the full game not a demo, the game was PD. I spent many a time with that game.

According to the Magazine Rack HERE it is the full PD game. Will have a look later and see if it's the same one I remember.
The Magazine Rack has that issue but they don't have the coverdisk, it would be good if they could get a copy too.

Yep, just fired it up in WinUAE and it is the PD game I remember. Now I just have to remember how to play it!

I remember an AC coverdisk later on which was copy protected, Saxon or some other DTP program was on it.

Yeah I had a think about it after it came to light it was protected, I would never have even tried the SWIV demo so was probably totally unaware of it.
I've always been the same with demo's right back to the ZX Spectrum days, always ignored them as they was usually buggy as hell and never gave a true idea of the finished product.
I do know the first time I ran SWIV it was the full version, so quite a while after this disk came out.

Okay I managed to copy the cribbage game from the disk and have uploaded it to the Zone. Its not and ADF but you should be able to copy it to a Hard disk drive and run within workbench. Maybe DamianD could work his magic and create a bootable disk for it?
