EAB/Lemon Super League 2016: Round 2 - Prince Of Persia
EAB/Lemon Super League 2016: Round 2 - Prince Of Persia Starts: 00:01 February 7 Finishes: 23:59 February 27 Rules Post a picture of your score here with the score written underneath. Enter as often as you like. Only scores achieved during the round's time frame count. No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states. No continues/passwords allowed. If you suspect anyone of cheating please let us know in private - anyone found guilty will be banned for the entire season. Scoring system as suggested by Harry: When you enter a level, move your character a bit (so the screenshots are all different), press space bar to display the time and then make a screenshot. Submit it, and write the time to it. Score is level*10000 + time-minutes*100 + time-seconds. (Time-seconds are only available when the game was completed.) Game completion counts as level 13. Remember, anyone can join in at any time. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions you may have. I was playing the game yesterday, antecipating the competition..
Shit, I barely remember anything. I can still do good sword fights, but I don't remember any paths! This will be more frustrating than I antecipated. |

But this competition is a nice reason to finally play some games properly. I have enjoyed completing many games in this compo which I didn't or wasn't able to finish back then. Somehow the old games feel easier for me nowadays. |

I actually feel the same, jPV.. people say our gaming skills get worse as we get older, I only see me getting better as the years pass by.
Of course, being rusty in a game doesn't help. I remember I could cruise by Arabian Nights, I tried it again after so many years last week, and didn't manage to finish it. Yet sometimes I get some games that were very hard for me back at the day, and manage to beat them. This happened with a lot of MSX games that I played when I was a child, and then revisited after being older And I am pretty sure I am way better at Street Fighter 2 today than I was 15 years ago - And yeah, one of the reasons I was excited to be part of this competition was to be able play older games properly, even if I had already mastered them back at the day, or if they are completely new at them And now I can play on real HW, instead of using emulation.. that's why I was never interested in the competition before, I am no big fan of emulation, and I always felt the Amiga was the system I owned that felt the most different under emulation for some reason. Now people has to stop picking AGA games, 2 out of 3 games so far are AGA and I have just an A600 Also , I didn't remember PoP had so many mazes! |

Game completed with 13:40 left, score 131.340.
I estimate the maximum time at about 25:00 left. |

I decided to have another go while the memory is still fresh.
Game completed, 22:00 left, score 132.200. Made a huge mistake in level 9, which did cost me 3 minutes. |

Two notes to ChrisN82's screenshot in level 8:
First, if you want to submit your score because you are stuck, you can get easily to the starting screen of the level when you die (so the mods can easier compare your level). Second, at that place, you must go only a very small distance into the next screen. This can be achieved if you squat down, then stand up again, and repeat this until you are in the next screen. |

Slightly more respectable.. I did not have time to "re-position" myself - started lvl 11 with only 9 seconds left! |

I'm determined to do well in this game since I used to love it back in the day Some big mistakes were made, most notably in lvl 8 where I died towards the end.. I think 28 to 30mins left is possible. I recorded this run, but not going to upload yet since I may need to improve the time The 50 in the screenshot is just fraps running in the background.. |

130,705 there's LOTS of room for improvement. Made a few mistakes on the first 4 levels that cost me a few minutes. Then had a death at level 9 that costed me like 6-7 minutes, died 3 times on that hard jump on level 11 where you have to time your jump between 2 "cutters" and not step on the tiles that will close the door, and then I died lots of time on level 12 for not remembering where to jump properly .. this costed me about 7-8 minutes ... the last battle was pretty easy though, and there was one hilarious moment with both me and Jaffar defending each other strikes like 10-12 times one after the other with no breaks at all between the strikes.. I really gave a loud laugh here with this I must say, it's the first time I finish this without any cheats. I finished it back at time with the infinite time trainer. This is an *amazing* game, that still as playable as it was back at the time. Just amazing, amazing game-design . I'll try a better time later, I can improve it a lot. I really don't have any trouble with the sword fights at all, I just need to stop taking the wrong routes and stop dying stupidly. (Sorry about the blurry pic, I am playing on real hardware, and have to take picture with my crap cellphone camera ) Last edited by Shatterhand; 12 February 2016 at 22:20. |

I've seen many people playing this game having no idea you can press UP to deflect attacks from the enemy guards. Against the fat guard (actually, you should do this against every guard after this), after every attack immedetialy press UP, so you will defend any counter-attack he may strike. You can then easily do that: attack->get blocked->defend counter-strike->counter attack by quicly press button after parrying an enemy attack. And then you have the last boss, that can defend and counter-attack your counter-attack. But you can also defend his counter-attack and counter it. And this may lend you to a long chain of back-and-forth blocked attacks, which is really fun to look at |

With that fat guard, I found it easier to just counter one attack, move past him, put your sword away and keep running
