[Found: Toki] Side-scrolling game (girl getting abducted)

Hey!

Game genre:
Platform, Fantasy

Game genre (Specific):
Metroidvania-esque

Viewpoint:
Viewed from the side in 2D

Intro:
You see a guy and a girl walking in some open terrain, and eventually the girl gets abducted/kidnapped. So the goal is to rescue this girl.

Gameplay:
You play as this guy, and I believe he is able to shoot projectiles, but I am not certain.

I remember one type of enemy had the head of a dragon, but a centipede body (segmented) and was airborne.



I can't remember more details, as I was very young.

[Aside: As you can see from the video, the framerate is awful on an A500, but on a 1200 it's quite playable. Someone here recently asked for a one-disk version, so I put a friend's one-disked, aga-friendly, version in the zone].

Doesn't look like that one. The intro is surprisingly similar concerning the abduction part, but the guy sprints and tries to chase down the perpetrator near the end of the intro.

The game I am trying to find has a bit worse graphics and could easily run on the A500.

Heh, it seems like the abduction theme is more common in games than I had originally thought.

The intro in this game is pretty distinct though.

Are you sure it's not Ghosts 'n Goblins? Abduction at the start, it even has exactly the type of enemy you mentioned.

Yes, I will recognize the intro immediately if I find it.

I watched the Ghosts 'n Goblins intro, and it's not that one.

Also, the character doesn't have that kind of armor.

It was quite a common theme in the 80's for your girl to get kidnapped and your task was to save her! A bit sexist these days lol.

Double Dragon was a good example, but doesn't match your description.

Haha, ye. Good old school setting.

I am familiar with Double Dragon series, I think the main character's sprite is similar to the guy in the game.

But.. now I am getting some glimpses from the past, there is a possibility the main character got transformed into some kind of beast/creature.

I already checked out the "Shadow of the beast" game, so it's not that one.. but still trying. I've been browsing videos and databases for hours now. A bit of an obsession if I must say so myself.

But being able to re-experience old memories is great.
