Automatic scaling - problem & request

Hi Toni,

automatic scaling in WinUAE is a great feature without a doubt, but there is a problem with one game: Arabian Nights (I've tested CD32 version). In-game automatic scaling for some reason cutting out the upper screen with game score etc.

Here's the screenshot with automatic scaling on:

And here's the screenshot with no scaling:

Second issue. In some games automatic scaling gives strange effect: real display screen is moved to the left/right, in other words - it's not at the center. Please, look at the screenshots below from Gunbee F-99: The Kidnapping of Lady Akiko.

Toni, is there any fix for this problem?

Yeah... easy solution; don't ever use automatic scaling

Any game that uses more than 320 x 240 will be cut off / missing parts of the screen.

Personally, with all of my 2300+ configurations I've changed "Default" to be "No scaling"...

Nice joke Second pic is native screen with no scaling exactly (earlier I've incorrectly described it as default :/) and it looks really terrible.

It's all down to what you personally prefer, Bagpipes. I've found that just one Display/Filter configuration for everything works perfectly for me.

Second screenshot is either scaled or a wrong display aspect ratio correction was selected. It's stretched horizontally, maybe a wrong zoom multiplier (horizontal+vertical size)? Damiens screenshot is right.

What is your Windows native screen resolution, Bagpipes? I might be able to help.

1366x768 in my laptop and 1920x1080 as external source (TV). My config is OK, but for some reason WinUAE cutting out upper bar in Arabian Nights. It's one and only game tested by me with that problem.

This is a bug, only happened in some special situations like this game.

Unfortunately this can't be fixed, some programs have blank area that looks like border but is actually part of display area.

As ransom1122 uses automatic scaling in his setup; he can tell you another game where this happens.

Shadow Warriors
