Amiga 4000T cdrom

Hi

i installed a scsi cdrom unit to my A4000T. i see the information about cd0 device( in devs/dosdrivers) and is:

c:Mount
Activate=1
Device=scsi.device
Unit=1

i have a scsi hard disk, i imagine that use 0 unit.

cd icon does not appear, although the unit is mounted

where is the problem ?

thanks

Use the find device app that comes with IDEFix97. It will tell you if the drive is connected ok and also what unit it is aswell as the device its using.

I have mine correctly setup as device = atapi.device and unit = 2.

Yes IDE-fix was original for IDE Drives,but the Find utilitie works great to find scsi-devices to. Select in the left window the device and then the scan button.
Sometimes it couldt be, that the system will hang, then try another device.

That's nonsense. *Either* select the device manually *or* click on scan to search all devices.

It does. It's called CDRomFileSystem and resides in the L directory. You can use it for basic operation, but it's highly recommended to use AmiCDFS or CacheCDFS instead.

Do what FOL told you, then change device and unit in your CD0 icon accordingly. Should work. But you never know. CacheCDFS will at least give you an error message if something went wrong. CDRomFileSystem just silently quits.

There is a cd0 icon in sys:storage/dosdrivers. You set the device name and unit number in the tool types (click once on the icon, press right amiga-i) and then mount it.

By basic operation I mean you can use it to read the CD-R which contains AmiCDFS or CacheCDFS if you don't have another means to transfer files from the internet to your Amiga. It's not good for every day usage.

there no solution. I tried use scsi.device, 2ndscsi,devicem and so on an the cd icon don´t appers.

With A1200 + squirrel scsi was easy connect to a cd rom scsi. In the 4000 is a hell

Your still not listening.

open the IDEFix97 archive, in there you will find an Application called "Find Device". Launch it and click scan, it will scan and find something (i.e. blahblah CDROM Unit 0). If its not the device your after, then press scan again. keep doing that until you find your CDROM. If you dont see your CDROM, then you havent got it connected properly (or your missing the correct device driver).

Find out this info and post it here, same with your cd0, we can then see if you have it setup correctly (software wise).
