Amithlon and VMWare

Has anyone been able to run Amithlon as a guest under VMWare?

If you want to run Amithlon on VMWare on Windows you can as well run WinUAE on Windows. Same emulator, same feeling. One virtual machine less, more speed.

Amithlon would be the first choice on supported hardware.
With accelareted gfx it's ways faster then Winuae on the same machine
The problem is to find fast supported hardware

Amithlon on a Virtuall machine is in general a bad idea...
with uae/winuae you have nearly all amiga models
while Amithlon is a 3.9 system with rtg only
there are no native screenmodes (ok i lied, on some programs it can be cheated to a rtg screen)

if you want to play games, better go with winuae

I wouldnt mind checking it out this way - but setting up Amithlon seems a task -If a HD file for VP apperead that would be good

Virtual PC & Amithlon

Yes the old Virtual PC works fine with amithlon.
I've tested it, but can't recall it's stability.

Anyone got a download for Virtual PC 5.2?
I gather this is the version before MS purchased the company that made it?

Just read this on a review of VPC:

On the downside, Virtual PC lacks support for USB peripherals, network cards in a guest machine, virtual serial connections between guest machines, and complex virtual networks.

Important:
Enter the VPC5.2 BIOS and enable ACPI.
Save Settings.
Otherwise Amithlon wont work on VPC5.2!

And ... only Kernel3.x with bigird.gz works.
smallird.gz fails ...
(Give your HDD a higher prio and it boots before amithlon-ramdrive)

I didnt tried it with Kernel4.

Have fun!

AMIthlon under QEMU

Ive had success running AMIthlon inside QEMU only to the point of preparing partitions and filesystems...

However...this is a big deal-breaker here...
YOU HAVE NO ACCESS BEYOND THE INITIAL AMITHLON RAMDISK WORKBENCH

thats right... as soon as the HDD is prepared I can not transfer anything to it
so my OS3.5 and OS3.9 CD's are useless (even imaging them and trying that way also failed)

ScreenShot of the post-boot AMIthlon with 768MB of ram given
