Educational Game Designed for teaching C

Im looking for what I believe is a rather obscure Amiga game. It is an educational game designed for teaching people to use C in a fun way. (It might have been called something like C-Bots).

Basically, you are given an arena and a robot. You write a script given certain functions for the robot. Then you compile your script and run it against someone elses script. The two robots then fight it out.

The graphics were very minimal but the concept was brilliant and I would love to find this game or its equivalent if anyone has any info on it.

Thanks

Are you sure this was out on the Amiga??? I had this for the PC!

I could look for that version if you are interested.. The name was C-ROBOT if I remember correctly.

The version I played was definitely on the Amiga but as I am nowadays on the PC, it would be great to find that version.

I found a massive list of these types of games:

http://www.gammax.net/aiforge/game-links.htm

I also checked out the original crobots by tom poindexter. Unfortunately, it didnt run correctly on my XP machine. It definitely looked different than the Amiga version I remember.

Any further info or advice on the best C or C++ version of this game to use on windows would be appreciated.

AFAIK CRobot is a DOS game so it shouldnt run on XP...

My version is for DOS and I needed a slowmo program to run it in my P133, so matters will be worse on the P3 866

Im still looking for it.

Sadly, I don't have my copy handy, but the Amiga version is called CRobots, a US-released PD game based on the 1985 PC original by Tom Poindexter. The first Amiga version was released in 1989 and the last version 1990 by David Wright. In this strategy game, you had to program a robot in C to track and destroy other robots. It is more involved with multiple human players who are creating their own C robots.

//EDIT: Fixed a mistake.

Take a good peek at the "New to Emulation / Amiga Scene" forum, you will find many answers there

Use the search function!

Ok. I did check out the FAQs and got quite a bit further.

Ive now set up a drive where I can access the crobot files. I believe the problem Im having now might be program specific.

Whenever I try to run crobots it gives me a stack overflow error. Anyone else have better luck or know why I am getting this?

No need to upload, but for further reference, The Zone can be accessed by clicking in the button that says says "the zone", up there at the top right corner of this very page.

Check it out!

Sorry for the delay...I ordered a huge pizza last night and after pigging out, I promptly passed out as if I'd just had Thanksgiving dinner or something.

At any rate, I finally awoke and made the disk. Or rather adf. It's in the Zone.
