CDROM install in an A4000D

I'd like to put a CDROM in my A4000 Desktop system. I had a 32x plextor IDE drive laying around but it looks like its too long? Do I need a shorter then normal CDROM to have enough room between the power supply and back of the drive? Or should a normal drive be fine?

If I need a shorter drive, does anyone have a suggestion?

LiteOn drives are extra short. I have them in my A4000, and my XPC.

I've a Sony DVD in my Amiga 4000. It fits very nicely. It would be nice to have a list of CD/DVD Rom which fits nicely into an Amiga 4000.

I got one of those Liteon Super Multi DVD writers. Most if not all Liteons are shorter than average, although even the shorter drives can be a tight fit for your cables. If you want to know how much difference, look in ur manual for dimensions then compare with manual for e.g. Liteon drive dimensions online.

I've got a sony, it's shorter than the average, so it gives me more space to put the CD IDE cable, FLoppy Drive cable and SCSI cable through the space next to the cooling fan(!), what a design!

And here's the tunnel created for the air that cools the CPU,

Alas 2 minutes after taking that picture I started to have a fiddle and broke the 50 pin male to 68 Pin Male scsi converter, that means I how have to run two sets of 68 cable through the same space, and put a great big converter on the Cyberscuzzy which slowly pushes it out of position, argh!!

Edited to add, sorry if the pictures are too big, not too sure how to get thumbnails from photobucket, and sorry for the dovet cover too!

Have the same jungle inside my A4000D with CS MKII, CyberSCSI shit etc
It's a big relief too see the machine working after you've put the lid on and fire it up

You could always use those rounded IDE cables instead, they'd look tidier and would fit in the narrow space better.

Yes, the Sony would be short as well because the Sony DW-U18A is a rebadged Lite-ON SOHW-812S
