also you could add to notes, that this version is on "Amiga Action 67 Disk 2"
http://amr.abime.net/issue_140_coverdisks

there is another version Called "Gorf 1.1" on the title screen that looks and plays totally different (on the first level you can move about like in the arcade version, whereas on the older one you could only move left right), it is more polished looking with smoother scrolling, but....
I still prefer this original one with the bigger ship and it also seems to play better as-well. but only if you use an 68020 with fast mem or it will be very jerky.

the newer version can be found on a towerbyte software disk on the amigapd site.
http://www.amigapd.com/interview-kevin-gallagher.html

old is more Amiga. new is more arcade.

2 screens first is original version second is gorf 1.1

Notes about the versions available online added.

I played only a few levels, but I believe the game deserves to have quick match: Space Invaders set.
As I suppose you will have played it more, you probably have a better idea if that should be or if the game differs too much after a while.

Good game this - I used to love playing this - Kev was good at these games.

I love his game, Galaxy Wars - still play it all the time!

just uploaded newer Gorf screens to FTP, as the original ones on HOL are cut at the bottom.

also uploaded screens for Gorf1.1
I think this should have its own entry because it is different enough from the old version

Hmmm, I'll let the top guys decide if a separate entry is really deserved or not.

Having played both a bit, I can see teh gameplay differences. Are they major enough to justify a separate entry, I cannot tell.

Can you remind us what was the time difference between each release? I see that the "old" one is from 1993.
If there are several years and major gameplays changes (more than what I could see through a few levels), then I guess it could pass for a major revision. A bit like Alien Breed and Alien Breed 92... At least, those would the arguments I would mention.

So Gorf (Amiga) is an unofficial port of an arcade game which had several licensed ports.

Not sure if the Amiga version is a perfect replica of the arcade game (need to check the docs) but anyway it might be worth mentioning this in the entry notes. Perhaps might deserve some categories/quickmatch.
