Big Red Adventure Amiga vs PC

I compared the graphics of the PC version and the Amiga version.

It looks like the Amiga version has lower colours (or am I mistaken?)

Amiga

PC

So it's not the same as the PC version if I'm right.

Oh, Spot the Difference, I love this game.

There is a suitcase on the bed in the PC version which is missing on the Amiga version.

Well spotted ancalimon

No idea who put it there for which reason, but it's indeed misleading and contradicts the notes. I've removed the conversion note.

Since Amiga version has fewer colours (32?), I guess the game also works on ECS Amigas?

I'm guessing that the PC version has 256 colours?

Seems like you and stu232 (I guess you are family-related since you share some numbers ) are the only ones playing this thread's game

You can also notice that the Camera (under the cursor for the PC version) is not on the Amiga screen.

RE: Suitcase & camera
It's an adventure and you can pick up items which are then missing on the screen... just thought I should say it

Wasn't this game in 640x480 or some high resolution? Comparing these screenshots can't be accurate unless you get the original, unresized screens. I have a feeling the Amiga version was colour-reduced to anyhow, I remember the magazine screenshots looked like they were full of FS dithering.

the pc version is hi-color
the Amiga version : 256 colors AGA only...then of course the difference in quality

I wonder if HAM 8 mode could have been used in this game to match PC game quality

As far as I know, the Amiga version uses 16 colours (backgrounds) on screen.
The backgrounds are simple IFF files, so DPaint will lift this secret.

PC version is SVGA 256 colours not not 65536 colours. Amiga version really looks like it's not 256 colours. PC version bkg files are all 250kb while the Amiga ones range from 10kb to around 120kb.

Isn't OCS capable of displaying 16 colours on a hires interlaced screen?

Here's a side by side comparison from latest ScummvM using hq shader.
