Just got my busted BlizzardPPC back
Just got my busted BPPC back. It's got 040 25 and 603-166. It was bust due to overclocking 040 to 33mhz. There are two crystals, the upper one is 50mhz. The lower one is 66 mhz and it's hanging from the board. Will try to have it fixed and change the 040 with a 060, and ppc with a 240mhz one. I wonder what the problem is. Someone is selling his BVision so if I can find a way to jam all to the standard 1200 case without overheating, I'll have a really nice 1200.

Unless you are an expert with expert equipment you will NEVER EVER be able to successfully change the 603. You need a BGA rework station which start at many thousands of Euros. Not to mention you will probably never find a replacement 603 chips as they are no longer manufactured.

ACUBE used to offer a BlizzardPPC upgrade service but it is/was infeasibly expensive at €199
http://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=news&id=28 Plus they do not repair/replace 060 components. You would first have to repair & replace the 040 with an 060. This will probably cost another €100. |

I friend told me he can replace the 603e, provided we can find a 240 or faster 603e.
I'll definetely need to find a way to squeeze all into a standard A1200 casing (including Bvision. Will need some serious cooling and a way to mod the plastic 1200 casing. |

BuZz of Exotica has an A1200 with BPPC & BVISION and has modded the case with fans and air holes.
He also painted it black and used a CDTV keyboard for keys. |

i used it with bvision in standard case for a while, but decided to put in tower.
i'd strongly suggest you go for tower too. I had big problems with space. couldnt seat keyboard and fdd normaly because of RAM modules, had to rise whole a1200 to put fan on '040.. bunch of wires for extra power and fans.. its a lot of hassle and unreliable. if you value the ppc towerize it! PS. I got some photos on a.org of both variants also, I remember the bvision fan would conflict with metal shielding and fdd connector. |
