UAE for Sun Solaris (Sparc)
Hey, has anyone any precompiled binaries for this one?
I have my SPARC platform (Ultra60) which runs VICE for C=64 and Hatari for ST emulation, but no UAE I tried it on an SGI Indigo2 and it works like a dream, so why not on a U60...?? ...because noone seems to give a precompiled version to the public! Sob! I wish I was a developer myself!! Any help? |

Some other interesting precompiled emu-stuff for Irix, too Enjoy, all you Irix enthusiasts! Please me know if you get Basilisk running properly Another great resource for UAE on SGI is http://www.nekochan.net where you can dl precompiled E-UAE (better version than the one above, I still miss some libraries to run it) and other great SGI stuff on 'Nekoware' section!! |

Please give AIX a try too.
Back in 0.8.2X versions I was unable to compile this on those AIX boxes we had at vocational school, due to an extremely weird issue which made me impossible to compile it. I'd see a chance in E-UAE, though. |

What c compiler do you have on that machine, what libraries, how old is Solaris installed? In terms of power, can you compare it to what kind of x86? And where did you found Hatari and Vice compiled for Solaris? Hatari uses uae cpu core and the fact that it has been compiled means that cpu part is ok on sparc, provided you have gtk2.0 with development libraries, and sdl with dev libraries if you want full screen, it shouldn't be that hard to try to compile uae yourself. Even without gtk 2 or 1.2 and sdl you should at least be able to compile a stripped down version, maybe without a gui, in order to at least try it. Take a look here for some compile instructions. |

0.8.25 of UAE will compile perfectly for Solaris 7,8 & 9 on an UltraSparc iII out of the box.
If you cannot compile the source then you probably are not supposed to play games on your ultrasparc at work anyhow ftp://ftp.coresystems.de/pub/uae/binaries/OLD/ Last edited by alexh; 05 August 2006 at 22:19. |

@mtb:
Look at www.blastwave.org and www.sunfreeware.com for Hatari and Vice Sol-Sparc binaries, respectively! @alexh: Thank you for the link, in fact this is the only binary that I have already found while searching, but I can't get it to work... Sob! @BOTH: Hey, guys, cool down! I just started learning a bit of UNIX stuff with my Sun & SGI boxes! I really get dizzy when talking about compiling stuff Dunno about gtk and such stuff at this point of my progress! Even setting up this systems with fresh OS installations was a strange experience for me! I like them very much, though! 8) Please give me some time...!! Concerning the speed and power of the emulators, I just can tell you that they are quite usable, very close to the original machines, as far as I have tested them up to now |

Got e-UAE SPARC compiled for me by the great-mega-generous Amiga/UNIX guy Ian Chapman
(see: http://www.amiga-hardware.com ) He told me to feel free to distribute the build to whoever might want it, so PM me with an email address, to forward his messages with attachment & installation details, if you like I tested it on Ultra10 440 PGX32 and it goes very well, but rather slowly! On my Ultra60 Dual360 C3D it goes far better!! Worth a try, definately! It would be great to test it on other various Sun HW, to compare performances |
