A1200 will not boot with PCMCIA ethernet card
I just got myself a 3COM Etherlink III PCMCIA for use in my A1200, but I notice that the A1200 will usually not boot (cold or warm) when it is inserted. It just hangs in the kickstart. It has booted a few times with the card inserted though.
Can this be related to the PCMCIA reset bug? From what I can understand, it would normally not block the Amiga from booting? I have '-resetpcmcia' on ACAtune, but since it never starts booting, that will obviously not help. The card works fine if I insert the card after or during boot. Any thoughts or ideas? |

my first thought was the seset bug,but like you say ive never seen one stop any amiga from booting.
seeing as the the machine carrys on booting after the card is inserting during and after,im thinking maybe it has something to do with the aca? maybe its a good idea to inform jens of this for a faster response. |

The last couple of cold resets it's been working just fine, so I don't know what happened. I had one crash when I ran startnet where the screen was completely messed up and and machine seemed to be frozen. That could have something to do with the Indivision that I also have in it, but hard to verify.
If this is not a known error, I think I'll just test it some more to see if I can get a feeling of when it happens. |

I know this thread is from 2012 but did you ever get to the bottom of this issue?
I'm having a very similar issue with a Linksys PCMCIA WiFi on my A1200. With the card inserted the A1200 won't boot. Without the card it boots. I can then insert the card and start a TCP/IP stack without any problems. I have an ACA1223n and an Indivision AGA Mk2 and I'm running OS 3.1.4 |

Yes, you most probably need a Gayle Fix.
I'm using this one and it works very well. Great quality product by the way. https://retroready.one/products/ka-2...a-a1200-pcmcia |

I also have this issue. A1200 will not boot from internal harddisk if PCMCIA network card is inserted. I must every time start without it and then insert it.
Anyone can confirm if "Gayle Fix" will also fix this problem? |
