Bought a C64 at a boot fair on sunday. Came with a datasette and 2 x 1541's for £30.
Very nice condition and the motherboard looks clean.

Came with no cables or power supply

Never owned a C64 before and that's a very odd power supply.
I've ordered a 9v AC transformer and a 5v module to build my own.

I'll use my bench power supply for the initial power up.

Wish me luck!
Good luck!

Regarding to your question the actual better fpga of C64 is the Chameleon, which i own.
In MiST platform there is another C64 fpga core which has a good compatibility. I tested on it several games like Sam's Journey, Pang, and all the latest releases of this period.

Turbo Chameleon 64 will return to the market soon, i think together with the release of C64 Reloaded Mk3.

Any estimated dates, please? And thanks for SO good info!

You can preorder it.
https://ultimate64.com/

@nogginthenog in fact it's better if it came without cables or PSU as you better get new ones as they are better/safer now.
About the PSU there are a couple of videos showing how to make one the "lacy way".
This is the list of slackers :

Jan's Beta: [ Show youtube player ]
Perifractic's Retro Recipes: [ Show youtube player ]

You could also buy a new one, but it would cost more than you've paid for all of that stuff.

I didn't make mine the lacy way but that's a great idea for a video!

I'm seeing that Briley Witch Chronicles was also commented here in december 2017:

http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=259

I'm wondering what has changed since then, if there is a estimated date for releasing it or something.

Briley Witch Chronicles will be published by Protovision for the Commodore 64, sometime later this year (Cartridge only).

I'm using a 5V 2A module & a 9v transformer. Need a case & some fuses.
Next step is to try to load some software. Is it possible to hack in an audio jack to the cassette?

Composite video would be nice.

I'm excited

Ups!. Sorry then about including you in the list of slackers

Yep, I see that you added a sticker on the case . Congrats mate, well done .

Edit: BTW I've added a plastic logo with a similar look to my C128 PSU as I don't want to connect/use an Amiga PSU instead.

LOL... I love your channel and your humor, you know. People please subscribe and you'll see a talented guy:

Just a question about the so beautiful black 1551 5 1/4 floppy drive by Commodore.

Sunglasses on, please :
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/qh8AA...lF/s-l1600.jpg
Edit: Now... This is mine (!!): https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/p6cAA...zi/s-l1600.jpg

It was released for the C=16 and the Plus4 and it was much faster (three times) than the 1541 for the C=64. ...
An adapter for them was planned back in the day.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_1551

Dunno, but nowadays it's easy to find adapters for things that weren't even planned, so why doesn't exist this kind of adapter yet?.

Could it be possible?

We have JiffyDOS for the 1541 to speed up loading But I guess soemeone could make that adapter if they had the schematics for the 1551 and the interface?

Regards Mayhem, I got the download links sent to me by email from Kenz after i'd ordered the Physical release, also got the download links for Organism, Legend of Atlantis and SQIJ.

Update on my bootfair c64.

Built a nicer power supply using a junction box. Ended up etching a PCB to mount everything as I thought hot glue would be a problem with heat.

Cleaned up both drives, oiled the drive shafts and cleaned the heads. One is working fine, the other seems to have problems seeking. Still working on that.

As I have no way of loading software I built a PI1541 on breadboard (I had all the parts) which works nice. https://cbm-pi1541.firebaseapp.com/

Currently listening to the Deus Ex Machina demo Holy shit.

Space Moguls seems a nice M.U.L.E. homage. 4-player interface is of course supported.
