Hi Folks,
I eventually got my miggy1200 set up again. I am going to have a go at istalling the hdd that Jimbob005 gave me in the spring. Just wondering if there are any comprehensive guides for noobs on how to do this? cheers PZ |

If you have a PC then buying a cheap USB adapter and using WinUAE is the easiest way to install it.

just make sure you`ve got the lead the right way round and something under the HD, like some card if you don`t have the cradle and thats about it for the hardware
software now theres anotherthing, sure there`s plenty of info on here all depends on what workbench you installing |

I installed a 2.5" hard drive in an A1200 not so long ago. Brief guide:
1. Remove the screws, carefully remove the top of the case, making sure not to break any fragile plastic snaps. (I forget if some screws are longer than others on the A1200, but make a note if they are.) 2. Attach the hard drive to the IDE port with a tiny IDE cable, and put the HD in the hard drive mounting bracket. I had to keep mine in place with some elastic bands. Make sure you connect the IDE cable the correct way around. If you have no hard drive mounting bracket in there, you can probably buy one from amigakit.com, same with the tiny IDE cable. 3. Switch it on, and if the HD isn't already formatted, partitioned and installed, you can do these using the Install disk of Workbench. If I remember correctly you're limited in partition size (2GB or 4GB), and the installer will call IDE "SCSI", but ignore that. |
