New Amiga Book - The Ultimate Guide to Amiga PD Games

Last April I posted a top 100 Amiga PD Games vote and mentioned that Graham Humphrey and myself were working on an article about the Amiga shareware / pd games scene, well that article grew and ended up as an e-book which has now been published on Amazon,

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Ultimate...amiga+pd+games

The book contains:

  • a foreward by Graham Humphrey about the Amiga PD game scene
  • an introduction by myself which includes the results of the top 100 Amiga PD game vote
  • 200 mini reviews of the best Amiga PD / shareware games writen by myself, Graham, Lifeschool and Robert Hazelby
  • An exclusive interview with Michael Welch
  • An extended interview with David Cruickshank which contains new content from the interview which appeared on the Amiga PD website
  • Information on recent / upcoming Amiga PD games

The book is free to borrow if you have an Amazon Prime account.

If you want to purchase the book, there is a minimum charge of £1.29 but all royalties are going to AmigaPd's chosen charity, Mencap.

I would like to thank Graham, Robert, Lifeschool, David and Michael for contributing to the book and to everyone who contributed to the original top 100 vote.

I hope you enjoy the book. It was already ranked #1 Amazon Best Seller in Amazon's Classic & Retro Games Strategy Guides category within 2 days of release.

As Kitty says though, would be nice if there was a non-Kindle option too.
Still, the money is going to a good cause so I'm happy enough to contribute and looking forward to reading it.

Is there an online service which prints digital books as 1 off? It would be nice to have a hard copy.

Any chance you could submit this to the US Kindle store as well? I'd love to buy it to support the effort, but the amazon.co.uk site won't let me download to my US kindle.

Thanks!

I'll have a look if Calibre will be able to open it, so I can save it in a format some of my other devices are able to read as well.

There are apps to download the kindle reader to your android phone and pc / laptop so it is possible to access without a kindle. I actually don't own a kindle, but have the kindle reader on my phone and tablet as well as work computer. The software syncs all the devices so that they all show the last page read which is handy.

We may look at using the Amazon createspace function to create a physical copy of the book. The formatting needs to be changed slightly as some of the pictures need to have their pixels per inch ratio amended to ensure top quality.

Due to the volume of pages the cost is quite high but it is something that I will be looking at in the next couple of months. It would be nice to link it to an update of the PD CD / harddrive compliation I made a while ago as there are new games which could be added as a result of researching this book.

There is a PDF version of the book which could be made available but ideally it would be nice to have a small contribution to mencap rather than making it 100% free - this could change in the future. The main advantage of the kindle route is that if we need to make an update (we were hoping to have an extended interview with Edgar Vigdal as well), everyone who has purhcased a copy should get a notificiation to download the new version or in some cases it will happen automatically if the settings have been changed accordingly.

Error while downloading Kindle. There is insufficient space on the device.

HTC Desire. Designed with hardly any internal memory

Unfortunately there's no way to have Play Store download apps straight to the SD card.

To save space I'm running Cyanogen Mod + moved as many installed apps as possible to the SD card and I still have only 22mb free. The original HTC Desire only comes with 150mb internal storage, which is peanuts really.

Will wait for a PDF or print version I guess.

For all the ones who don't like to use Kindle.
You can open the E-Book in calibre and convert it into a different format like EPUB or pdf.
Download for Calibre is here: http://calibre-ebook.com/
It's a very useful program if you have to handle with a lot of E-Books in different formats and readers.
