@Jack

the TOSHIBA TC574200D-150 is a 150ns speed rom,

you would need a 120- or faster

TOSHIBA TC574200D-120 or even -100

@Jack

its not so much Transfering, more Programming (burning) an EPROM.

the Toshiba you have this is infact a programable rom, with the 150ns read speed, so we need to find a compatible chip that can be read a bit faster.

you can use an 27c400 or 27c800 for this purpose, and theres quite cheap to get hold of.

heres a great deal for a TWO of FAST 27c800-100 UV-EPROMS $4.95 + $2.00 PnP

I may even get a couple at that price LOL

now once you have these chips they will need to be programmed, this is the tricky part if you dont have the kit OR dont know anyone with the Kit to make it happen.

To be honest, its not that difficult to program a ROM, all you need

a Wilem based Programmer
a 16bit eprom adapter (this is the one I have )
a UV Eraser

so thats a lot of kit, but you would never need worry about Kickstart ROM's again, AND you can help your friends out on that side of the water

theres a HUGE thread on how to program these roms, its that easy even I can do it... just ask Tony the absolute Hash i made of it first time!! oh boy... I think I still have the bruise on my forehead from slapping it so hard!

anyway... have a shop around you should be able to get all the kit you need for around $50 which is a nice christmass present to yourself

if you are still a little unweary, I can help you out with the programming just drop me a PM and we can sort it all out

@Zetr0

Maybe next time I will buy those things but right now is not worth for one EPROM. For my birthday (January) I just bought that KADA rework station which you suggest at soldering topic .

Anyway check the PM box

3.1 Eprom

Weeeee, I was right! :-P I am the problem solver, do do do do :-D

Nathan

P.S. You know that I have 120ns EPROMS right, as well as a programmer? ;-) I have one that has pin 31 broken off. A perfect EPROM for soldering pin 31 to 21 with a wee wire ;-) As my ROM switcher already joins pin 1 to 31 (socket) via the jumper, all that is required is to join the bent up pin 31 to pin 21. So I suppose that my ROM switcher takes care of half the work :-D So it is possible that with one of my 120ns EPROMS, you could still use the AdSpeed.

Sounds good I hope that 120ns will work with AdSpeed. I will send you an e-mail.

Hi JackTheKnife,

I have seen these referred to as multimeter accessories - specifically test leads, probes and clips.

Google these terms and see what you can find. Good luck!
