What games you played in NTSC??

What games you played in NTSC to get more fps??

I remember to have to use NTSC mode in R-Type2 for avoid some terrible slowdowns.
Also with StDragon, but still having slowdowns =(

someone used NTSC??

Anything that would work in NTSC! My aim wasn't to speed things up. The black area at the bottom of the screen always annoyed me so I used NTSC mode to stretch the graphics to a larger portion of the screen. Street Fighter 2 is a good example, Eye of the beholder games too.

It depends...
... some games, were just way TOO fast in the NTSC mode, for my old wooden hands to achieve anything... and while other games could not get into the NTSC mode... (LEMMINGS - WHY? ... yeah, i know someone from the WHDLoad team did explain that... somewhere...)

But i'll say:
adventures (Secret of the Monkey Island 1 / 2);
arcades (Bubble Bobble);
rpg's (Eye of the Beholder 1 / 2);
racers (Stunt Car Racer / TNT)
... just love the NTSC mode

But aren't you able to switch to NTSC-mode with TAB-key in Lemmings?

YES but it is actually SLOWER than in PAL mode. However, in Lemmings 2, it goes faster. Dunno why.

I did this with many games to get rid of that ugly border and to get more FPS out of it. Lemmings 2, Street Fighter 2, Lotus 2, to name but a few.

I use NTSC mode all the time! Love the full screen! But if the game is full PAL then I use PAL.

I tried NTSC in Turrican 2 & the voices & music are faster. The voices sound funny.

Turrican 2 is a game NOT designed for NTSC.

Great topic since I wanted to ask a few things. I recently bought a TFT screen that cannot handle <57Hz. Therefore, my scandoubler in the A4000 cannot display PAL, so I had to use the mobo jumper and have my A4000 boot in NTSC. NTSC works just fine.

However, when I tried to play KO2, the game was too fast and the bottom of the screen was not displayed so I couldn't see the time left as well as the score and the players name.

I read, that some games should support NTSC. Support meaning to be displayed properly? Do I get the extra speed/fps anyway? This is important for me cos I love KO2 and since one of my pals disassembled the code we can make some additions up to a point. The game is just too fast with extra speed and we may have to alter the speed decrease option say to 90% (insted of 50%) to get this one properly...

Formula One Grand Prix and Frontier used to gain a few frames per second in NTSC mode.

Yes, but the speed is increased. I do not know a single game that has been designed with NTSC in mind so most of them that do work fine, will be accelerated. It's not an acceleration to not consider,, for it's something like a 14% increase if I remember correctly.

KO2 is not a game supporting NTSC, as you noticed, the scren gets chopped, and lots of things can happen this way. I read somewhere (forgot, must have been some posts by Codetapper) that when this happens the Amiga is trying to render lines where there's no screen so thiscan actually lead to SOWDOWN instead of speedup. Games like Turrican, when in NTSC mode, get excessive flicker adn slowdowns when lots of shit happens in the scren.

So I am not sure if you can NTSC fix this game,. Being the popular game that i tis there MUST be an NTSC version, then again, americans were never huge soccer fans so maybe here is no official NTSC version of KO2, only hacked NTSC fix cracks that might not work properly...

Some games you cannot get to run in NTSC, like Carthage, Chaos Engine AGA, and some others. Even with a NTSC tooltype! It is quite sad as these games do not use the whole 256 lines (PAL) but require a PAL screen to work!

Perihelion had a built in ntsc mode, you could chose it in the first character building screen, by clicking on something; also it had a message from programmers showing off if you clicked on the eagle eye on the same screen

edit: by the way, is it possible to get to the preboot screen built in Amiga1200 on winuae? i've tryed some times with no luck
edit2: ok it is if you keep the buttons pressed while resetting amiga just found.

but is possible to switch PAL NTSC within Winuae emulation while something is running?

Not shure if this goes for all the games.. but the ones I ran in NTSC looked like crap since the aspect got all wacked, so apart from lotus I think it was, none.

I've only ever played 2 games in NTSC Mode: Fury of the Furries (it flows better) and Flink (because I would constantly toggle between the two modes by accident!).
