17-Bit Series

In my fixing of my dat from the horrendous mess it was, I am creating a
PD Collections - 17-Bit Series dat file.

As you probably know the 17-Bit catalogue has utilitiy disks right through it with no name or numbering.

In what way do you think I should name them? I am tempted to include the disk number in the name, but would how could I do that and adhere to the TNC?

17-Bit Utility Disk (19xx)(17-Bit Software)[Disk No. 073]
17-Bit Utility Disk (19xx)(17-Bit Software)[Disk No. 243] or something similar?

What do you think?

The few 17-Bit disks I've renamed along the way & set aside for a future dat have been currently named in the style of :-

17-Bit Disk 0022 - Font Disk 1 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0025 - Samples Disk 1 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0073 - Utilities 2 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0080 - Misc. Programs (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0139 - Samples Disk 3 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0152 - Samples Disk 4 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0159 - Games Disk (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0166 - Samples Disk 5 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0170 - Slideshow Disk 20 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0174 - Utilities 7 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0247 - Utilities 9 (1988)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0566 - Odds 'N' Sods (1990)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0754 - Whatever Next Utils (1990)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0982 - Educational Stuff (19xx)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0983 - Educational (19xx)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 0985 - More Educational Stuff (19xx)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 1569 - Kid's Paint (19xx)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk 3186 - Learn & Play Plus (19xx)(17-Bit Software)(PD)
17-Bit Disk xxxx - Educational (19xx)(17-Bit Software)(PD)

There's obviously a fair few 17-Bit images contained within the other current dats that will need moving over & sorted if a proper 17-Bit dat is made.

BTW, I'd hardly call it a horrendous mess :P

@BippyM - I thought about calling them that, but then people would think its Utility Disk No 73, with 72 other utility disks before it

@Idoru - Thank you for that

Okay, for anyone who is interested, I have created a 17-Bit / Quartz dat file for anyone who wants to know if they have any 17-Bit made disks in their collection. There are 313 disks known in this dat

The naming system in the dat is as above in Idoru's post

Please feel free to give me any feedback / suggestions.

This is a W.I.P, so not all disks are added to the dat, it is mostly made up of the most obvious ones in the catalogue.

17-bit disks (again) :)

Do you think, given the work it would take to fix other dats, it would be better if all 17-Bit disks are named as standalone disks rather than series disks? eg.

MED Modules Disk #1 (19xx)(17-Bit Software)

instead of:

17-Bit Disk 1264 - MED Modules Disk #1 (19xx)(17-Bit Software)

After naming them they would be put into there relevent theme data files.

What do you people think?

I agree it's a LOT of work, but overall it would be better if they were in their own dat. I've done some work on Faces of Marz in the same way, but not enough to warrant a dat release yet (the first 51 disks are done so far).
