3,4 and 5 would be a must for me. 6 would come eventually once decent development environments and libraries were available I'm sure.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease stop this.
The Amiga is dead as a platform for anything other than hobbyists. Why can't the hobbyists just accept that and stop making silly fools of themselves!?! |

But why on Earth would anyone buy it over a PC (because that's what it's going to compete with)? Underpowered and lacking in software support with an OS that's realistically ten years too late. With the greatest will in the world I just cannot see how this is going to succeed.
And anyway, the thing's got to be released first... |

I was speaking hypothetically. I don't actually believe that 3-5 will actually happen!

But i understand you, you want to say that the amiga spirit is dead with commodore in 1994. But me i think that the amiga spirit is a part of the users and programmers who i'm sure sure of it will comeback if they can don't loose money. Perhaps i'm crazy,i don't know, i hope that i'm not the last crazy man on earth.(hyperion are crazy too then) Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let the others who want believe in the amiga comeback. |

The signals for me:
When Amiga offer me a machine that is as fast and as powerful as a modern day PC. I don't believe in buying another machine which is heaps slower then my Pentium rig. It should have a user friendly operating system that is similar but different to Windows, and good security and internet features. But, it all should be cheaper, and this would also attract my patronage. These threads may be flights of fancy, but I don't think people who create these threads, or who believe that the Amiga can be resurrected, should be criticised. |

while personally i think the matter of this thread is practically unrelevant, as what we may want about new amiga will unlikely happen ever, i would like to point that this is yet another thread we could live without.
Don't take me badly: how many there are exactly on this subject active in the last month? "what you would a new amiga to be like" "new amiga on the horizon" etc etc... as they basically are fights between 2 diametrically opposed points of view, each very determined, so to speak, not to concede the slightest, my point is that these threads are fryed air. big and unuseful IFs just for the debatable fun of fight. my 2 cents |

For working and gaming you have powerful pcs (PC/MAC). If you're just interested in gaming you have powerful consoles (XBOX360, PS3, Wii).
So what makes you think that a new Amiga with lowspec components could be a success ? Just because it's called Amiga ? Please... The "new Amiga" you put your hopes doesn't even have anything in common with the classic Amigas, except the name of course. The Amiga-Comeback you hope for will NEVER happen ! And if you look at it realistic you will find NO argument for chances on the mass-market. |

Well I for one are glad to see there is still bullshit cascading out of the mouths of Amiga Inc.. and imo it's a lot better then absolutely nothing at all
Don't forget Turrican3 that the majority of users on this board would love for the "BIG COMEBACK(tm)" to happen, however the cold, harsh reality seems to take precedence over the flights of fantasy (no pun intended ) Personally, I agree with Coagulus.. 3,4 & 5. Neway we'll see what emerges.. |

Look, the Amiga will never compete with today's PCs and MACs. That's a fact. They've been out of it too long and they wouldn't be able to produce hardware and an OS that could run the range of software that I use.
However...if they got together with some game publishers and produced a machine that could run games of the same type as we were used to in the old days, but slightly better spec (in terms of gfx and sound) then I would be interested. But it would have to be backwards compatible so I could ditch my A4000T. Maybe it would have a Minimig-type daughter board with an 030 and 16mb RAM for those classic games. I guess what I would go for is a machine that could give us games like UFO, Worms, Wings etc. That's the flavour I would be going for. Fancy FPS and online multiplayer games are for PCs. Amiga won't do those better. But yes, make a new Worms, Wings II, Superfrog II etc and the people will buy those machines because all Amiga has to trade on is nostalgia and the 'classic' feel of the games. It probably wouldn't take much to update many of our favourite games and add levels/gameplay to them. |

I agree with kg completely. But I'm happy you other guys have your opinions - they are just as valid as ours. It'd be a boring place if we all agreed with each other now wouldn't it?
I couldn't take part in your poll though as there wasn't an option for me. |
