Silmarils Games
I just remembered the old silmarils games. Specifically Colorado, Starblade and Metal Mutant. These games had the coolest fantasy backgrounds and weirdest worlds.
Granted, control and gameplay was sluggish. But I remember the strange feeling of immersion and vastness of the world when playing those. Some of those, I only had in French which made it even more mysterious. That graphics artist who did the backgrounds was damn talented. Especially how it did not look at all like tile based graphics. Same guy worked on Ishar series, and that made for great graphics in Isahr too with no tiles! Then it went haywire with the piece of dung that was robinson's requiem In short, these freaked me out quite a lot Anybody ever played through one of those games? |

For information, these games use a system like coin-op.
Portions of graphics have an hex code which are affected to them. the game engine just ask on a specific part of the screen an hex code, and the graphic part is displayed ^^. |

I found Starblade for 3DO. I wonder what are the differences between the two versions.

Starblade for the 3DO is a covnersion of the 1991 NAMCO Arcade game, they've got nothing to do with the Silmarils game.

I bought Colorado original.
What REALLY annoyed me is that this game (or Silmarils games in general for that matter) are TOO damn hard. After playing for n hours you would just get stuck on the smallest idiocratic things. Targhan: An unkillable(?) final boss even when using a trainer. Metal Mutant: At the final boss the game starts with completely alien (no pun intended) symbols as orders which you have to follow or your killed. Colorado: An indian sitting down who you (I guess) have to give a peace pipe to, to cross a bridge. And when you do mythical wolves attack you and you die... |

No it was a trainer for the PC version.
Sadly I do not seem to be able to find it anymore. I am at the moment desperately looking for the trainer for Colorado (which I also used to have) but alas, I cannot find that one either |

Perhaps somebody knows, in Crystals of Arborea I sometimes did not find all four crystals on the map. Can they be spawned underground sometimes? I do remember finding pedestals of some sort in the endless tunnels.

Silmarils made great, very original games which were always good in the matter of graphics and concept. Recently I discovered Boston Bomb Logic - great logic game unfortunately quite easy to finish. I loved Ishar trilogy thanks to which I like RPG games.
