@emuola
Maybe you are experiencing the same problem as me with the info files? Could you try renaming the info file for one of the games (e.g. rename 9Fingers.info til 9Fingers.inf) and see if it works then? @gibs I just tried 2.2b38. I tried building the database for my test folders. I then tried to launch 9Fingers and it crashed. Here are the contents of my log file: Code:

About the fastnav, I finally found the reason why I sometimes accessed the fastnav as soon as I touched the first entry on the list, and sometimes I didn't. It has to to with you using keyboard or joystick. Keyboard works fine and joystick give you the premature fastnav.
Scenario 1 (working): Access one of the lists. Move down with arrow keys on keyboard. Move up with arrow keys on keyboard. Result: The first entry is marked and no fastnav. Scenario 2 (fails): Access one of the lists. Move down on joystick. Move up on joystick. Result: Fastnav is activated, preventing you from launching first entry. |

The later versions of Dopus with the workbench replacement stuff I always hated, and it probably hides the extensions and icon files by default. You should be able to select "view by text" and "view all files" or some equivalent of that to see the info file. |

@gibs
I finally hooked up my real Amiga to the network and transferred over Tiny Launcher 2.2b38. I thought I owed you to test your menu on real Amiga hardware too. I wrote my Amiga specs on my first report, but I can add that I'm running on a Classic WB v23F base on the system, and I've tried booting both from Workbench and from CLI with no startup-sequence. Unfortunately I am experiencing the exact same bugs as I do in emulation, so I am afraid bad emulation and WinUAE settings cannot be blamed Could you try loading up TinyLauncher on a ClassicWB to see if this is what causes the crashes? |

Changed the .info to .inf and "Behold!", the game(s) actually start Quitkeys don't work, but I guess that's because of the info-file modification?

I've been testing 22b38 too. I use ClassicWB Lite installed on a 250Mb partition of an 8Gb SD card with the remaining space used as a partition for games, demos etc.
I have games arranged in the A-Z two level structure and Demos in a one level structure. I've been testing (using the same SD card) on WinUAE - 030, 64Mb, 3.0 roms and a real A1200, 8Mb, 3.0 roms. I run TL almost at the beginning of my startup-sequence after only AntiClick. I'm basically reporting the same things as other testers: 1) The two-level A-Z scan crashes to workbench, usually after scanning to somewhere between 1000 and 2000 games. 2) The single level Demos scan completes fine. 3) 9Fingers worked for me the first time I scanned then ran it in WinUAE, it showed the correct tooltypes extracted from the info file. But I have been unable to repeat that, even after deleting the TL database. Now it crashes to Software failure. 4) 9Fingers fingers didn't run at all on the real A1200 although changing the .info to .inf (presumably so tooltypes aren't extracted) did allow the demo to run. 5) The quit key for 9Fingers (F10) worked for me. I'd love to help get TL working as I think it's a really beautiful launcher! Let me know if log files for any of the above tests would be useful. Last edited by SuperNashwan; 22 August 2012 at 22:10. The difference between you and me is that, in config I set :
DH0:DIRECTORY/DIREVTORY I'm going to try to put the drive name to see if I can make it crash. Edit: it's not because of that Last edited by gibs; 23 August 2012 at 05:00. |

The last TinyLauncher beta's (with tooltype support) just crash on me when I launch games. Scanning for games works just fine.
I just noticed that on my a1200 TinyLauncher22b38 only works when started from a plain Workbench (3.1). However, it always crashes launching games when started from Scalos, Opus Magellan II or even from a script at bootup. These are my Startup-Scripts: Normal Workbench: Code:

So I have installed ClassicWB.
I did a directory called SomeGames in DH1: with subdirectories 0-9 A B C D G H I J K L M N Z I J K L M N are EMPTY The others are filled with KG slaves. Well indeed... there's a crash at the first launch, nobody has reported "File Not Found" ? I can't explain yet why at 200, because if I scan again it goes to the end. Well...then Fastnav can't go farther than 1000 but it has been reported. Hmm is that what you are encountering ? Beta 39 crashes too. And there is no error message, no "file not found" etc. Nothing. It starts to scan and after 2 seconds it freezes and quits to the Desktop 15-20 seconds later. Sorry, i can't tell you more.
Edit: The latest Beta sometimes crashes immediately, after i've set a scan path/pressed F1 for the scan. Edit2: Looks like Betas 38 & 39 crashes anytime i press the ESC key, this shouldn't happen in the game list. Beta 34 was fine. Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 23 August 2012 at 06:23. |

Are you scanning the 1st level or the 2nd ?
For the first level I'm going to improve it. |

Is there any good and "universal" way to log what happens when the system crashes? I tried the latest Snoopdos with logging to Floppy (so that the hd would not get screwed), but I never get any log file(s)? Should I? Or is the Snoopdos beyond usable, because the *whole* Amigaos crashes and not just an application? Could not find any "Monitor" in Winuae either.
*edit Found the monitor (shift + F12). Just don't know how to use it Winuae 's own log has the following when TL crashes: "36-090 [2424 009x004]: Your Amiga program just did something terribly stupid 59B83CC4 PC=00F817CC" @ Gibs The scanning works now at least in the latest Winuae/ClassicWB. Scanned 2061 ecs slaves After selecting a game, Amiga reboots Last edited by emuola; 23 August 2012 at 08:35. |

@all
My suggestion about renaming the .info to .inf or similar, is only to disable the info file completely. It is not a fix in any way, just a way to see if it is indeed the info file scanning of NewIcon type that fails for you guys too. Renaming the file will disable all tool types. @gibs In the b38 version (maybe a couple of earlier versions too) Tiny Launcher sometimes doesn't launch correctly when it reboots (crashing). I think this might be the log-file that has not been closed correctly or something like that. When I reboot again it normally works fine again. Sometimes Tiny Launcher also reports that it cannot find the directory when entering a section. Rebooting also seems to fix this. I have also noticed that escaping a section closes Tiny Launcher instead of returning to the main menu. By the way, I have to disable booting directly into Tiny Launcher on launch, as this is the only way to avoid overwriting the log file after a crash. Maybe you could concat into the log file or maybe create the new log file with a different name. This is not a big issue, but I wanted to let you know anyway |
