@Windowskiller:

Well, sure I know the game, or better, I knew it I completed it ( got 1st position at the end of game ) over 10 years ago.

So, maybe my memories about some details have gone over time, but I can remember for sure that when I played Jaguar, for me it felt VERY similar to Lotus ( Lotus II in my case, because this was the only Lotus game I finished )

Maybe it is not exactly the same, but at least it has been inspired much more than just being another racing game.
At least that's the way I see it, maybe I'm wrong - no problem, as life would be very boring if we all thought the same

It's obvious that Jaguar XJ220 was inspired by Lotus, but it's definately not a "rip-off" or anywhere near identical. You might as well say Legend of Kyrandia is a rip-off of Monkey Island.

Also, the controls in Lotus felt very different from the controls in Jag. But it's two racing games in an era where a lot of games used similar techniques and/or tricks.

If anything, Top Gear 2 was much closer to Lotus than Jag was.

OT: Lotus and Jaguar, i like them both; but Jaguar has holes in style and - ihmo - design that put it closer to the third chapter of Lotus' saga: repetitive scenery, strange ugly things on the side of the roads for style & design, and dull control and longer loading times for coding. it's a good game nevertheless, but in any case, very different from Lotus.

Mickey Mouse 4 for Gameboy - it's P.P. Hammer with hero changed to mouse. Even level maps are the same.

Having played Jump 'n' Roll a lot recently, I stumbled across a game that looks suspiciously similiar....

Jump 'n' Roll - http://hol.abime.net/3571
RollerBall - http://hol.abime.net/4526

The levels are exactly the same (and it graphically it looks almost identical) but the jumping has been messed up and you have to press fire to start a level, or to restart after you lose a life.

And it's described as "Commercial"? Would anyone care to explain how the publisher got away with that one?

They're both just copies of Trailblazer from the C64.

Yeah I know that (I prefer "clone" rather than "copy" for Jump 'n' Roll ), but RollerBall copies Jump 'n' Roll almost exactly 100%, all the level designs and everything.
