winuae windowed display problem!!!

hello all,

i have used winuae for ages now through a few versions, but a new problem has come up that i just cant fix!!!

if i run winuae fullscreen, its fine, but if i run it windowed, i get no picture! actually, i get white blocks (which i assume is part of the workbench1.3 screen) coming in from different sides of the window, and the size and shape of these blocks changes according to how big i make the window. also sometimes, the white blocks have lines through them as though the display is a different frequency to the output.

i have tried all the options i can think of, vsync, centering, you name it but i cant fix the problem!

it used to work windowed, with an older version, then for no reason i can think of (i didnt change any display drivers or settings) it went squiffy! i tried updating the version to the latest, and its the same...

please help!

Windows version? Display card? Driver version?

Try ticking "don't use RGB overlays" (or something like that) in misc-panel.
Try switching Windows desktop color depth (16/32)

You were right, it wasnt the RGB overlays though. WinUAE will only work windowed for me with windows in 16bit color depth, no higher...

by the way, as reference, i run win xp with sp1, celeron 800 with onboard graphics and about 520 megs sdram...

Does it work in 32-bit if you use smaller window size? (>1024 pixel wide windowed mode in 32-bit without filters causes buffer overflows..)

In 24bit windows colour, winuae doesnt work windowed at all... ive tried from 352x288 to 800x600 (my desktop is 1024x768),

but it works fine with 16bit colour.
