I tried A Valley without Wind 2... what the hell? Play the first one if you must, the sequel... what went wrong!?!? The control scheme alone is terrible, like it was built for a console. That makes me wonder, was it?

EDIT:

huh, I did a browse on my local Another World files to get to the making of video and stumbled upon the actual Amiga version (without protection) in ADF format in the bonus files. Now that's classy.

I will have to check that out, but it still means I suck at this game

Also, the pushing the other bike in front of the oncoming semi-truck was fun to watch too, maybe scrape off the goo like a giant bug

Other then the Burnout series, but that's not technically an Indie title

In the indie scene there are some, PAM for example. but they fail to impress (me).

Speaking in general I guess you can count the GTA and Saints Row series too if you're not too pedant, which greatly increases the score.

Evoland seems cool... haven't played it myself yet, but saw some clips... not too much, don't want to spoil it, but it seems fun.

It has this gimmick where the chests you find contain actual game upgrades... for instance, it starts out in greyscale, and screen by screen scrolling, etc... and you find upgrades to add smooth scrolling, more colors, etc, etc.
If you've played DLC Quest, it's that concept, only taken much further in this game.

Here's a trailer, but if you plan on playing the game, I would avoid watching it as it's full of spoilers... they show off a lot of the 'transformations' here, so if you'd rather see all that for the first time while playing (which is kind of the big gimmick of this game, so it's probably better not to have it all spoiled ), you should avoid this trailer!

I was tempted by it the last indie discount run, but the game is apparently quite short.

I've been giving Retro City Rampage another go. My opinion on it hasn't changed much - its really cool how it is made but it doesn't have a lasting appeal to me. Although the interruptions only happen at the beginning, eventually the game basically leaves you alone to complete your tasks. But that also pairs with a significant decrease in the amount of spoof gags the game throws at you.

And waddayaknow - I got in the mood again to play OpenTTD. Although I must have some sort of brain dysfunction, the usage of the signals just doesn't want to hook itself into my basic understanding :/

please note that the epic looking Fez is now on Steam, FINALLY. It used to be an xbox exclusive and it almost tempted me to buy a damned box! But I resisted.

I picked a few more games like Tidilas, Edge and Shattered Haven.

Also picked up a nice looking Adventure named Angelica Weaver by Mumbo Jumbo so maybe this isn't so indie.

I just love and hate Steam sales

I have it and have played it; its very okay but it has some console port problems, which can mostly be fixed by reassigning the key configuration or using a controller. I don't mind pixelated indie games to give them a retro look but this is really pushing it.

The game itself is quite genius in its design and execution I must say, I felt my brain move! The world rotation is not a gimmick at all, it is used effectively to create a world with more depth than any 3D game I've ever seen... and this game does not sport a true 3D world at all, it is a world made up of four 2D sides in stead. It is fiendishly used to create platforming puzzles and hide collectables and doors in ways I've never seen before. It gives a new meaning to the word "hidden".

Note that you can now get Dragon's Lair on Steam, for both PC and Mac:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/227380/

Its the Arcade version, not the Amiga version.

And be aware that some sites have mislabeled this as a remastered 1080p mode game when in fact it has been remastered to 720p resolution.

Its not indie anyway, what was I thinking posting about it here?

So on-topic, I'm really interested in Reus and not because it was made by Dutch geniuses. It actually looks very slick and is a quite original take on the good old god-genre with some similarities to both Populous and Black & White.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZMxzHPeizc

And just so you know: Reus is the Dutch word for "Giant" You'll see why that is relevant when you view the video. Its certainly at the top of my wishlist and I'm going to buy it as part of the next batch of Steam purchases!

Gimbal, that looks really interesting, I'll probably have to try that out as well!

Been playing two relatively new C64 games, by Psytronik... I think they're both good fun.

Ghosts & Guns

Soulless

Anybody play the Crazy Machines games on Steam yet ?

I've been picking up these little slices of fun for awhile and this series is like the old Rube Goldberg type machines that basically do nothing other then to maybe get the ball or object from one part of the machine to the other.
