What is TRW Lemmings?
The Rainbow Warriors? It's a public domain Lemmings clone, I know that much. Except, the dms archive in which it resides (17-bit disk 4330) is knackered so can't be executed. More specifically, it's only 3kb in bigitude so something ain't quite right there. The version hosted on the Turran FTP is the same as the one on 17-bit CD 5 found on Archive.org and elsewhere. Aminet doesn't have a copy.
Now obviously seeing as this can't be tested, it's bound to be far superior to even sliced bread and transform the world as we know it beyond all recognition when ultimately discovered and the riddle solved! Who wants to hop aboard the meteoric quest bandwagon from ground zero? Gauntlet, meet floor *slap*. |

Thanks very much for checking. I know a lot more than I did before... TRW is an acronym for The Right Way and it was published by Barlin PD. That's a good start.
Update: it's available on the Turran server if you search for 'the right way'. Coded by Michael Taupitz (1992). Interesting - if a bit limited - twist on Lemmings. You use the cursor keys to control the height of various pillars along the bottom of each level to smooth your lemmings' pathway to the exit. He's made a decent job of the presentation. I wonder if anyone has made a list of all the broken/defective DMS files on the 17-Bit CD-ROMs. Hopefully some of the actual disks can be found to fill in the gaps.

I hadn't noticed it before since I just did a quick test at work with the sound muted. Yeah, it's all a bit honky-tonk-funk-high-energy piano. Reminiscent of some Lemmings' tunes though. The music in the Easter edition is much more chilled out.
Btw, longplays of both versions are available on YouTube courtesy of our very own Hipoonios. Thanks. |
