Why would Sony's co-operation be needed? Does it have something to do with allowing the OS access to certain parts of the hardware?

Despite all the big companies attempts the reality is that we own the amiga !!
Once commodore went bankrupt we kept it alive !!

Dont care what anyone says the legacy came to us we have earned the unofficial right

RJ Mical works for Sony in their PS3 division so they might not say that Fred.

Exactly. Currently, external OSes are only allowed to access a basic 2D framebuffer. All of the wonderful 3D goodness the PS3 is capable of is barred to Linux (and any other alternate OS) developers. In order to get support for 3D graphics, cooperation from Sony would be needed.

If it goes under we can all buy it and use the business to sell fake copies of Putty Squad on Ebay.

They recently lost their main financier due to death. Sorry to hear about that, it's never good when anyone dies.
That's what you say.
I'd loved to see this financier alive and have Gary Peake taken his place back then instead.
Because that way around, Amiga Inc. would probably not have gone down the drain so quickly. This man (GP) with all his ideology far off any human conscience and his understanding of "management" must've been one of the worst things that could've happened to AInc to date. Ever. So I wouldn't have shed a tear if he had "disappeared" from one day to another. Not even one.

(all of the above is IMHO)

It looks to me like this company is mainly in to porting games to cell phones. If anything there ripping off good ol' Amiga Games just to put them on Iphones and MS-Mobile phones. Wonder if they actually have the rights to those games or if there dependent on Abandonware.

And Sony would cooperate in bringing an obsolete, widely unsupported OS hacked for barely fulfilling today's necessities to their flagship platform.

Only one question echoes furiously in the spectator's head:
Why???

Erm, can anyone show me the post where this turned into 'OS 4 on PS3'? Then again, please don't...
Amiga Inc. is a joke, but this one is even better (or worse). Come on guys, if you should hope for something, then a PC version (and that is also very vague...)

Lol

Haven't you figured it out yet TheCyberDruid todays cpu user has only loyalty to convienence availability and price. And why not eh, lets have this because we can and lets run this because we can and lets steal err sorry utilise all this older work for nothing. While I'm at it I'll pat myself on the back for getting all this and only paying for the hardware.

The world is going down hill because noone makes anything matter and people are simply getting greedier.

I certainly hope sooner rather than later someone builds another arc.

but hey, when did this thread turn into the 'end of humanity'

"I came here to bury Amiga Inc., not to praise it..."
All I'm hoping for (and that is the naive hope of an Amiga nutter ) is that the strange company Amiga Inc. comes to an end and that the people that still are interested in developing anything based on my/our beloved platform can do so. With all resources available. I really don't care if that is vital for a current computer user, but just having the kickroms not bound to a strange company would be ace Anyway, whoever thinks that Sony would choose OS 4 for the PS3... or that they would offer their sources for such a project... and that was my point

I understood your point like I understand everyone. Trouble is people generally aren't interested in what makes sense only what suits themselves.

Good on you for keeping it practical, good luck in getting any support

With this in mind, it's not apples and oranges ay all. Both C64 and ZX Spectrum have a bigger, more active, more prolific scene producing demos, games and tools, without a hint of nostalgia at sight. The Amiga is a computer of the same category (old), and there's a shitload of stuff to do with it, and probably a lot of limitations to break, but hardly anyone does it.

If you don't see the zealots, you haven't kept up with "Amiga" news for the past 10 years
I'm just wondering if you can go one post with out mentioning your favourite word "Zealot" in it several times?
