Request : warpers support under winuae

Hello Toni, I know that winuae supports direct loading under winuae, but this is not the goal or the point of my post.

Basically, i have noticed that writing or reading a *.WRP file from winuae on a fresh ADF doesn't work, the content is not correctly written back or even read.

Can you have a look at what can make this disorder to happen and fix it please ?

I have most warpers in a zip file (i mostly use Warp v1.1 and Warp Deluxe) if needed i can zone it.

Didn't those use freely selectable XPK compression methods which obviously aren't and won't be supported...

not at all. Those are single executables. Do you want me to upload in the zone the warpers in question ?

EDIT : i've uploaded the 2 warpers in question.

"Not enough information". For example, standard ADF obviously can't store any protections or anything that is bit-stream like.

the WRP files concerned are cracked or deprotected versions from BBS archives.

The problem is the writing on a fresh ADF and very possibly the reading.

(some rare WRP files contains some MFM tracks, but those are not really concerned.)

I talked about this with codetapper, and he confirmed me that the warpers used to crunch to disk to be put on BBSes are not working under winuae.

Those warpers are working on real A500. The problem is that for writing them back on ADF, you can't do that one by one on A500, we need to do that on winuae, it's faster.

If extended ADF works: it works as designed.

Standard dos disk does not mean standard ADF works if program tries some tricks in reading or writing.

EDIT: Still NOT enough information. What are you exaxtly doing, which disks you are trying to read or write!!!

Ok With a WRP file containing MFM tracks, winuae indicates to use extended ADF format. But the result show that something went wrong during the writing.

I'm trying to write BBS WRP file from the Boiler room BBS in ADF. The ADF once written are corrupted, when they are not when written on disk with a real Amiga.

Do you want me to upload some WRP files for you to test in the zone ?

Did you used Standard or Custom ADF? Size of Standard is 880K and don't support custom formats, while size of Custom ADF is about 2MB and support custom formats.

In "Floppy drives" is "New Floppy Disk Image" section with 2 buttons. Second button is "Create Custom Disk" for creating custom ADF.

only a few WRP files requires the extended ADF format, all the others are plain DOS.

It appears that those warpers, even the more recent are not compatible with anything higher than 68000.

In fact, i was just to focused on what i was doing, completely forgetting that those warpers need a 68000, and do not work on 68020-030.

i've solved my problem by using the Classic GAAE / A600, and adding my folder with the warpers in.

I use the warp deluxe warper, because it allows the support of the MFM disks as well as the DOS ones.

I have built until now :

After Burner Bencor Bros USA MFM disk,
Archipelagos from Quartex MFM disk,
a data disc from an unknown game 'AXGAMES',
Battle Squadron MFM disk,
Beyond Dark Castle MFM,
Gladiator MFM,
Realm of the Trolls MFM

Some of them were bad in the BS1 collection.
