REQ: Super Tetris (Spectrum Holobyte) (*WORKING*)

Hi,

I'm looking for a NON-TOSEC version of this game, because the TOSEC version is unable to work on any Amiga, no matter if real thing or emulator.
The version on TOSEC has obviously been made from a broken source without verifying if everything went well!
Block 1189 couldn't be correctly transferred, but the guy who transferred it didn't even bother to check!

See screenshot. The German text means:
"Block 1189. This block wasn't readable on the original media."
The R/W error at startup is caused by a corrupt GRAPHICS.BIN because of this invalid block.
I hope anyone can supply a working version - I've never seen this game "in action".

Well, that's the one I have too, but with the R/W error
Thanks for the quick help!

// Edit: Hmmm ... not working in emulators (yet).
Cursor is invisible, can't select anything.
Needs another fix, I presume.

ive got a non-tosec copy of the crystal crack as well but it came up with a r/w error so i assumed it had the same invalid block. then i noticed the tosec versions aren't even listed as bad..
so does it work or not? and if it does then how?

Twist's version does work, yes. (you can't actually play the game yet, but it works, i. e. it's free of errors.)
The version Twist uploaded is different from the one available on TOSEC. The TOSEC version is utterly for the dustbin.
And yes, the TOSEC version should be added a [b].

Arrow

Cursor to select anything is invisible (WinUAE).
Same with WinFellow.
If this is Greek for you, I can post a screenshot.

Well, now you've caught me.
Yes, it works. My mistake was that I didn't try the GREY cursor keys ...
Thanks for the pointer.

// Edit: Hmmm...is there no DROP key in this game?!

hmm just been browsing thru my docs
cud only find the pc docs for super tetris, dunno if the controls are the same for the amiga though (and cant be bothered trying)

MOVING PIECES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As pieces or bombs fall into the pit, you can move them left or right,
rotate them or make them fall more quickly, using the control method you
choose on the game configuration screen. You can also move pieces using
a mouse.
Rotate Left button
Drop Right button
Left Move mouse left
Right Move mouse right
The following table lists the keys that control the movement of the
pieces and bombs:
Control 1: Single Player
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Move piece left 4 A left arrow
Move piece right 6 D right arrow
Rotate piece 5 S up arrow
Drop piece 2 X Space down arrow
Left and down 1 Z
Right and down 3 C

Control 1: Competitive and Cooperative
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Move piece left A
Move piece right D
Rotate piece S
Drop piece X Space
Left and down Z
Right and down C
Control 2:Competitive and Cooperative
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Move piece left 4 left arrow
Move piece right 6 right arrow
Rotate piece 5 up arrow
Drop piece 2 down arrow
Left and down 1
Right and down 3

I have an original of this game...I'll check the docs when I get home. I might even scan them to a pdf if anyone is interested. I remember when the game was released. I wasn't impressed. I looked at it once and shelved it. I think the reason Spectrum Holobyte wanted to make the PD Tetris clones go away was because so many of them were better than their commercial entries in the series.

I know it's futile, but does anybody have Tetrix Metallica? I have a 3-level demo that I played forever (but never beat...sigh). Would love to play a more fair game than the demo allows.

Nice I can give something back now.
Just looked into my LSD disks, and on disk 34 there was what I needed: a nice SuperTetris manual!
I had to change the extension to *.nfo because RCK doesn't allow *.txt extension here.

@RCK: can we allow the txt extension here too, please?
Having to rename the manuals is a bit awkward if they are true ASCII files. Thanks.

There is in fact no DROP key!

According to my definition, a DROP key is for dropping a stone without having the option of backing down again.
But here, the so-called 'DROP' key is only a key to increase the speed the pieces come down, not to actually drop them.
Purpose, this seems to me.
