copy the IconGhostingOff utility into the C: directory and try from command shell. you may also add the command into the "s:startup-sequence" - after the entry of the icon.library ( i think ). Last edited by emufan; 01 July 2013 at 21:25. |

@Zybex17
Sorry, indeed I've forgotten to add the IconGhostingOff command to the 46.4.301 package. Thanks a lot to emufan for attachingt IconGhostingOff. Quote:
If you want to use it permanently then call the instruction IconGhostingOff from a line above LoadWB in your S:startup-sequence. |

FBlit is very configurable. Can't it be used modified or something?
EDIT: Forget it, and this is very interesting: Using IconsToFastMem, With FBlit and your 302, Chip Ram: 1.723.576 FBlit disabled with 302, Chip Ram: 1.774.984 Edit: Also it's true that with 300 and no IconsToFastMem, it was (edit) 1.774.984 So well, ok, Chip ram won't change disabling FBlit, but also you'll need rtg to see any improvement over 300. Wohaaa, great Peter!! I've just tested the IconGhostingOff with the 46.4.301 version of the library, and it work simply great! The speed boost is still present, and the ghosted icons are back to normal. I'm 100% satisfied, thanks for the great gift Peter!!!

All updates to the icon.library from 46.4.302 up to 46.4 309 have been removed.
The problems with CGX and DOpus Magellan could not be solved yet. So, the attempt to support the direct drawing for DOpus and OS 3.0 / 3.1 failed. I wish I could fix these bugs but they never appeared on my WinUAE system. So, the actual and last known good version is 46.4.301 again. Last edited by PeterK; 08 July 2013 at 23:24. |

Hello Sandro,
did you check out my IconDemoADF image? (1. post) You can copy it onto a floppy and then boot from DF0: It's a bit slow, of course, but it shows you exactly what's possible with WB 3.0+. Have a look into the S:startup-sequence and compare it with your own system. Copy missing files from the ADF image or DF0: onto your system. Make sure that you have the correct settings in Prefs/ENV-Archive/FBlit.cfg or just copy this file to your harddisk. Using the instruction IconsToFastMem above LoadWB is correct, but it does not mean that your system requires no ChipMem anymore. On all systems with an AGA or ECS screenmode you will still need some ChipMem for the bitplanes of the screen. For example: a PAL screen with 720x512x8 will allocate 360 kByte of ChipMem. However, the icons should not reduce the amount of available ChipMem, no matter how many icons are displayed on the screen. You can see that when using the IconDemoADF. It has always something like the 360 kByte ChipMem in use and you can open as many windows as you like, except you're running out of FastMem. |

but now I invented a simple way for Workbench 3.0 or 3.1 to use fast mem for icons you don't need newicons or iconstofastmem or any other patch running or configs in envarc basically is this: loadmodule icon.library workbench.library reboot quiet fblit loadwb simplegels (you need loadwb exe and workbench.library both from OS3.9) |

That's not a simple way at all. You should install full os35/39 not just cherry pick files for old 3.0/3.1 install. All you've done is mismatched files which could cause compatibility problems later.
