Batman Returns: Bad Dump?
Hi, I have the Batman Returns game and I just tested the SPS release. But I can't go past the logo screen. The cracked versions works.
Tested it with latest Winuae with all kind of settings with no luck. |

I can't find a key to skip the intro, but after the intro you can start the SPS with joybutton 1.

That's weird. Both me and a friend have the same problem. So the ipf I have must be broken. Maybe it's than early release which has been replaced?

I have no clue. Both disk images are dated with 07.07.2003. Tested with the latest WinUAE beta, A500 quickstart (most common).

Same here. Tested with latest Winuae with A500 quickstart config.
But my files are older. They are dated 24-12-1996. BatmanReturns_Disk1of2.ipf MD5: B2D6CAD26FB2A31698A90E1C228F9FBD BatmanReturns_Disk2of2.ipf MD5: D2AD773526F489CF5B08534BE20A32CC So I think the files have been replaced. |

My files have the same MD5 checksum. It's problably me who have overwritten the original date.

Filedate : 24-12-1996, WinUAE 2.2.1 beta 2, A500 most common quickstart
Works. I get the 'Press fire to start' message after the intro like Retro. On which logo does it hang hipoonios? |

Yes, you have to watch this intro with text. The whole intro takes 2-3 (with logos). Select the WinUAE warp mode to fast-forward it.

Ok I lied before I modified the default A500 config. I used default A500 config but I changed floppy speed to 800%. And guess what. That was the problem.
This is the first time that a game does not work with 800x speed. But lame that the ADF versions work with 800%. |

Use Turbo or 100%, nothing else.

Strangely enough I found that 800% worked for more games than Turbo when I still used it. Now I only use 100% and warp through the load and boring bits

non-100% is guaranteed to break all bit cell density based protections (and perhaps some others too)

1, The very first game preserved as ipf, Wizard Warz is dated 2002.12.23
Anything older is certainly a modified date. You can query the real file creation date stored in any IPF file using the access API, maybe WinUAE displays it too. 2, Batman Returns has Copylock using varied cell density. It won't pass the protection check if the emulation speed is not 100% accurate. What a game does when the protection fails depends on the game. Some crashes, some misbehaves, some pretends to work for a while... |

hum.... If i remember well, the IPF loading speed is stuck to normal.

No, only turbo floppy speed is incompatible with non-adf disk images.
