The problem is the turbo is SOOOO tempting to use.

I fully admit using it on C64 emulators. Good lord, you ever wait through Castle Wolfenstein or Raid On Bungeling Bay to finish fully loading? Torture!

Yes, but there's not that much difference in speed between using Turbo and 800% as far as I can see

...plus you can also use "Warp" mode in between loading times. I'll quote my text from the opening post:

  • Set "Floppy Drive Emulation Speed" to "800%" (which works fine for 95% of games).
  • Toggle "Warp" mode on / off i.e. <End> + <Pause>.

Given that Flashtro has now released Alco-Copter v1.0; time to remove the demo and add the full game

Again, as I don't know when I'll have the motivation to do another update at this stage... here's a quick fix...
  • Delete the directory "C:\WinUAE\Games\Alco-Copter".
  • Delete the configuration "C:\WinUAE\Games\Alco-Copter [demo].uae".
  • Download / extract the attached archive into C:\WinUAE.

As I'm sure most of you have read, today earok released a v1.1 patch for Road Avenger

It includes updates for both the AGA and OCS editions, simply unzip it into the folder where you've got it installed and it should be all good.

* Fix: Can no longer interfere with Workbench from inside the game using keyboard or mouse
* Fix: Timings on level 2 with certain turbo events were a little too far off
* Other misc tweaks
* Note added to readme that the game works best on no-startup-sequence if you experience crashes.
...so thought I better update the .HDF that I use in my collection accordingly.

Just do the following:
  • Download the new .HDF from here.
  • Extract into "C:\WinUAE\Games\Road Avenger AGA" replacing the old .HDF.

So I took the plunge on DDs collection as I found myself not being arsed to search through my tosec folders to find games anymore (too much to choose from I guess)

I am very impressed, everything I tried worked fine, still got a massive list of configs though, but at least it's just 1 per game

Cannot get the screenshots to show up but that's a training issue I'm sure rather than anything wrong with the collection.

You can tell each game the effort has been put in even by the way DD has set the screen offsets for certain games.

By no means is it perfect for a tinkerer like me, but if you just want to click and go I don't think you could find anything better.

My suggestions to make it perfect, if doable, would be the following:

During the setup process add some options to set filters and full screen resolutions.

Set the collection up as though WinUAE is already installed and working somewhere on the PC (ie, no WinUAE and it's related directories)

Allow the install location to be specified during install and update any file links during the process.

For me I have done all these using some find and replace app I found on the internet (Notepad++ didn't like replacing things on multiple lines), but something like eXo uses on his dos collections where you can set various features during the unarchiving process would be a great help and a massive time saver for those that want the graphics smoothed or otherwise altered.

Thats it really everything else is spot on.

I do like the standard setup though, which is why I've changed everything to use guest.r's CRT filter, previously I would use xbr and nothing else.

Not much fun without the title / screenshots

Someone else had this issue... they didn't use the "Setup.exe" file which extracts everything, runs the .reg file and finally copies the desktop shortcut. Did you run "Setup.exe"?

Also, as per the instructions for Update Pack #1, download WinUAE v3.6.1 and then apply the registry fix here.

Not possible due to the way everything extracts from WinRAR...

Once all has been completed though you can move anywhere and also rename the directory if you so wish as relative paths have been used in the registry / configuration files, see:

If you want to edit multiple lines then you need to use UltraEdit.

I should mention one last thing in terms of total portability

One of the members here asked if he could copy everything across to a USB stick so that he could take this around to his friend's house and just play. Yup, definitely possible!!!

So depending on whether you decide to use the registry or .INI file; here are the instructions:

Registry:
... Copy the directory "C:\WinUAE" --> the USB stick.
... Copy the "WinUAE.reg" file --> the USB stick.
... Go to your friend's house, plug in the USB stick, double-click the "WinUAE.reg" file and play.

.INI file:
... Copy the directory "C:\WinUAE" (with the .INI file included) --> the USB stick.
... Go to your friend's house, plug in the USB stick and play.

I use this collection from a external drive with a .ini file and WinUAE set to Portable, no need to run the .reg file to see the screenshots. It work's great that way on my Windows 10.1803 Home Edition.

As ross has now trained Flashtro's Alco-Copter v1.0 (see this post); need to update this is my collection

Again, as I don't know when I'll have the motivation to do another update at this stage... here's a quick fix...
  • Delete the directory "C:\WinUAE\Games\Alco-Copter".
  • Download / extract the attached archive into C:\WinUAE.

Today Alpha One released an updated version of Alco-Copter (and ross re-added his trainer)

So, updated again in my collection:
  • Delete the directory "C:\WinUAE\Games\Alco-Copter".
  • Download / extract the attached archive into C:\WinUAE.

Damien D, what can I say awesome work on this just brilliant. It is so great just being able to double click on a game and play it with no messing about. I got a question please, is it possible to change the resolution of the games globally, as in one resolution to works for all.
