UAE Dos Error #205 (object not found)..... (?)
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me what the above message is in relation to ? I have multiple errors with similar messages when trying to run several WHDLoad games (downloaded). Most of the games work fine, but some games such like BubbleNSqeak come up with the above error, even after re-installing on a REAL Amiga (from ADF files). I get "Dos Error #205 (object not found) on reading devs:kickstarts/kick40068.a4000" or sometimes (on other games) "Dos Error #205 (object not found) on reading devs:kickstarts/kick40068.a1200" Is this an error with the WHDLoad script or something else ? Is it something which can be fixed ? Any help would be appreciated. |

That's because you don't have the Kickstart 3.1 file in the Devs:Kickstarts directory - hence "object not found". Basically you need a 3.1 ROM file, named either kick40068.a1200 or kick40068.a4000 in a Kickstarts drawer in Devs, and you need the RTB files (which can be found in the SKick archive on Aminet). Do that and you're well away.

Hi DC33,
do you have the kickstart images and the corresponding .PAT & .RTB files in that directory? I think your problem exists with all AGA games, because old OCS and ECS games that require kickstart 1.3 seem to work. Edit : Again I'm just too slow |

Most WHDLoad games have the requirement for OS routines removed. However some games rely heavily on the OS and need to be emulated within WHDLoad with a Kickstart image.

WHDLoad uses kickstart images with real Amigas. It's nothing to do with emulating the Amiga itself - just system calls within the games. If you were running WinUAE you would still need these files on your virtual HD too It's part of WHDLoad's "magic"
