FlyinHigh
Here on the forum I have not found any interesting discussion about this game. FlyinHigh is a nice "3D" car race game localized in several languages of good Audio/Video quality with Mapped Texture, bootable from floppy Disk or CD, the floppy version to play must be installed on HD, while the CD version can be optionally installed on HD to improve the game performance.
The game includes multiple tracks and high quality panoramas (Data Disk) FlyinHigh on my OS 3.1 WB Magic RTG https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-Kc...ew?usp=sharing |

I don't have the CD version, but the floppy disk version and updates are easy to get installed / running in WinUAE honx.

The FlyinHigh CD should work on WinUAE, the CD version should be 1.0, there are updates 1.01, 1.05, and 1.2 which improve and add many new features. Minimum Requirements AGA version: - AGA Amiga - CPU 68020 - OS 3.x, - 2Mb Chip/4Mb Fast Ram, - HD or CDROM Minimum Requirements RTG version: - AGA Amiga - CPU 68020 - OS 3.x - 8Mb Chip/4Mb Fast Ram - HD or CDROM - Scheda GFX CyberGraphX/P96 screenmode 320x256 There are also the two Data Disk with different skins see screenshot Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 22 October 2020 at 12:35. |

Flyin High is nice game, BUT it really needs to get update, to make it playbale. Non updated version has some issue with controls etc.
Flyin High is still available for a purchase from APC/TCP. Price of ISO image is just 8€, well worth of it. There are only few "semi modern" car games for a Amiga, should have more. There was even a Carmageddon license for a Amiga. 1st. Extreme Racing, is best of these. http://hol.abime.net/1616 2nd. Flyin' high is second best. http://hol.abime.net/586 3rd. Turbo Racer 3D http://hol.abime.net/1528 This is "almost fun". 4th. Street racer http://hol.abime.net/2140 controls / playability problems. 5th. Virtual GP http://hol.abime.net/1578 simulator, not fun for me. Those who like, would like this. 6th. Joyride. http://hol.abime.net/4338 I don't understand why anybody would like this. 7th. Desert Racing Of BarDos http://hol.abime.net/4196 it is so bad that I don't know is it a really a game? Last edited by utri007; 24 July 2020 at 13:47. |

Thank you utri007, you anticipated some of my other discussions I was preparing.
For Flyin' high the best choice is the Pach 1.2 which allows you to play on RTG Screens where the game is faster and smoother ! |

It had some AI problems, at best mediocre graphics, repetitive and boring gameplay but overall, Flyin High is only slightly better imho. |

I've played the floppy version a bit with all patches applied (I own the CD too) and it's still unplayable in all reality. The steering controls are, shall we say challenging, and that is putting it mildly. You turn and a second later the car moves and keeps moving longer than you intended it to so you end up going from one rail to the other almost every time you try to avoid something. I have persevered with it and got quite far in and some of the graphics are ugly. The city setting at the start if probably the best looking set of tracks i have seen so far, i bet not many people have seen past the horrible brown muddy tracks with wooden bridges and green scenery. Such a shame I think this would be much much improved if the controls were fixed.

With the latest patch, the game is super easy even on most difficult setting. I own the cd version and data disks and thought it was a nice game for my 040/25 Amiga. I don't recall how it ran on my 030.

I saw the patches on Aminet, do you have to install every patch or can you install the lastest patch only please?

On Aminet there are Catalog, Cheat and a Patch that includes 2 executables one for PAL systems (v1.05) and one for RTG systems (v1.2).

But you won't get an RTG version that's much smoother than the AGA version.
