My Amiga has had it?? :(
I've just tried playing my Amiga 500 again, last time it was used was about 3-4 months ago. Was a bit fussy then, was purchased for £35 last year!
Put in Dizzy Treasure Land and it comes up with lots of coloured patterns racing up the screen. If i put in Centurion it comes up with " Error Validating Disk , Disk is unreadable " |

There was another thread here recently where floppy disk read errors were causing coloured patterns flashing up the screen, but I can't find it at the moment. I'm sure that the fault was cured by cleaning the floppy drive heads. |

Yeah you can buy the cleaning kits, Amigakit sell them or eBay.
Disks are prone to failing now so it's an idea if you can find some new DD's and write your favorite Games back to them from ADF's and play from backups, I preserve all my original Disks now I don't put a single one in a floppy drive! If you want a modern solution look at the HxC Floppy Emulator http://www.lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=13 Play all your Games from ADF's and never need another floppy disk! |

Hmm that floppy device is nearly half the price of an amiga 1200, I'll look into cleaning the drive and go from there
Thanks |

I feel your pain, had my A1200 since release, and I think the audio caps have gone, will cost me more to send it off to be fixed than to get a new one off an auction site

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't replacing caps a relatively inexpensive job? Packing up the motherboard and shipping it off to uk lads who offer the service as advertised on other websites....

not when your unemployed but still have a mortgage equal to your last well payed gig it isn't
also, I'm no electronic guru, I'm guessing the caps have gone. |
