A3000UX as a quickstart option

I think that someone suggested this in the AMIX thread and thought that this would be a great idea. Examples of options you could include:

2.04 ROM, 2MB Chip, 8MB Motherboard Fast, Picasso II Zorro II
2.04 ROM, 4MB Chip, 8MB Motherboard Fast, Picasso II Zorro II
3.1 ROM, 2MB Chip, 16MB Motherboard Fast, Picasso II+ Zorro II

What the point in having configurations that the machine never came in? Only sensible option would be to support proper 3000UX models.

A3000UX = A3000 with HD and tape drive + install tapes. (No RTG board)

It would only help if it also asks for location of HD image and location of tape image/files. Not really worth the trouble because you still need to know how to install it.

Actually, A3000UX was usually supplied with Commodore A2410 RTG board.

Of course, WinUAE would need to emulate it first .

I half-jokingly asked about this and got a pretty firm "no". 'tis a shame, as it now stands as one of the very few unique pieces of Commodore-produced Amiga hardware to not get the emulation treatment. (Yes, I know you can use other RTG boards with AMIX. No, it does not capture the same authentic experience as doing it on real 'bare metal' back in the day, which precious few of us were privileged enough to do.

* Toni is too busy trying to emulate other things;
* Too hard for him to emulate the A2410; or
* He's not interested

Proper A3000UX should have :

- A3000 with 16Mb motherboard ram. Don't bother with less.
- KS 2.04 or KS3.1 (A3000 version)
- A3070 tapedrive
- A2065 Ethernet card

Forget about A2410 it's barely documented and we have drivers for the PicassoII in AMIX using X11R5, which provides us with a display up to the task.

For those with time to waste, try:

- A2500 with A2630
- same stuff as above but use ram on the A2630 for fast.

Well... A2410 is documented quite OK and TMS34010 is documented very well and very well emulated (integral part of MAME as 34010/34020 family was frequently used in commercial game machines ages before GPU).
As far i remember Toni was not interested to emulate A2410 as:
porting code from MAME is not so easy (differences in architectures between MAME and WinUAE),
overall low popularity for A2410,
own A2410 limitations (lack of high and true color modes).

MAME usually means incompatible license. (and A2410 is too useless)
