Chinon FB354 LED - Solved
So I was swapping original but dead Chinon FB354 on my A3000 for a working FB354 from A500. Transplanted eject button and replaced electrolytes, and the drive was almost perfect, except for the dodgy disk present switch, and missing activity LED.
Soldering LED was easy, but it just did not work. Tracks from LED apparently led to a missing resistor marked R13 on drive's PCB. Measurement has shown the LED was powered from +12V, so I put an 1K resistor to see if that would work. And it did. I have since replaced the resistor with 0603 size SMD one. |
